You can insert two simultaneously working SIM cards into your phone. At the same time, the Samsung Galaxy A5 also has a separate slot for MicroSD, which many users found extremely convenient. Now there is no need to sacrifice one of your calling cards in the name of extra gigabytes of memory for several hundred photos and music tracks.

As for memory capacity, the A5 boasts very average performance - 32 built-in gigabytes and 3 GB RAM. This is more than enough for the needs of the average user. Even though the actual memory that is not used by any system files remains only 23 GB. And yet, for those who prefer not to bother with deleting unnecessary information from the phone or simply want to feel confident with a reserve of free space, a separate slot has been thoughtfully provided specifically for MicroSD. The maximum size of additional storage can reach 256 GB.
Battery
The developers equipped the latest version of the Samsung Galaxy A5 with a Li-Po battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. The battery consumption of this model is no different from any other Samsung, so we advise you not to expect stellar performance. 320 hours of standby time, 12 hours of talk time, up to 30 hours of continuous music listening, 8 hours of video. However, the phone supports fast charging mode. As the manufacturer promises, your smartphone will be fully restored within an hour. The remaining characteristics are quite standard for modern smartphones.
The battery of the new smartphone is quite capacious, which means it will last for a longer period of time.
Design and appearance
The appearance of the Galaxy A5 (2016) almost completely copies the flagship Galaxy S6 model. There is also a metal case in which not only the screen, but also the back panel is covered with glass. The glass has a slight curvature, the so-called 2.5D effect, which is a kind of recent fashion trend. The glass itself is Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Glossy surfaces have an oleophobic coating. For this reason, fingerprints, dust and dirt are not particularly visible. On models in white, pink and bronze, fingerprints are practically invisible. In black they are noticeable.
A frame is made of steel that runs along the entire contour of the device. There are small notches on the sides. The metal had a positive effect on the overall perception of the device. The body is monolithic, looks durable and reliable. The assembly is high quality.
On the front you can see a large 5.2-inch SuperAMOLED screen. Above it there is a speaker, a front 5 megapixel camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as the manufacturer’s logo. Below the display there are two touch buttons and one hardware button. The hardware key has a fingerprint sensor built into it. It works quickly and well, just touch the button.
The volume key is located on the left side, the power key and slots for two nanoSIM-type SIM cards. Interestingly, in addition to a SIM card, you can insert a microSD memory card into the top slot. Large capacity cards are supported – up to 128 GB.
The microphone, microUSB connector and 3.5 mm audio jack can be seen at the bottom. An additional microphone is also located on the upper end of the device.
There is also a speaker at the bottom for external calls and audio playback. I would rate the sound a four. Even at an average level, you can clearly hear the call, even if the phone is in your clothes. However, the smartphone is far from super-quality and surround sound.
On the back side you can see a 13 megapixel camera lens with autofocus and LED flash. The lens protrudes 2-3 mm relative to the plane of the smartphone itself.
The lithium-ion battery is located inside the case. It is not removable.
During the test I did not find any external defects. The impressions are extremely positive. It looks like a real flagship. The smartphone is assembled at the Samsung plant in Vietnam.
Camera in the new version of the smartphone
In general, the camera copes well with its main tasks. Photosensitivity and white balance perform excellent during daytime shooting. Exposure is self-adjusted in seconds. The lack of optical stabilization can seriously spoil the picture. However, once you get used to the camera a little and start holding the phone in your hands more confidently, the slight blurriness will immediately disappear. The fairly high detail of the picture also brightens up this shortcoming a little.
If difficulties with a clear, “quiver-free” picture arise even during the day in good natural light, imagine what starts to happen at night or indoors. Although this is a problem with most smartphones, let alone the average market representative. Just be mentally prepared for a slightly “off” exposure, noise and fine blurring of the edges. As a last resort, console yourself with the thought of properly working autofocus and white balance.
A positive counterbalance to the lack of stabilization is the selfie camera. In addition to the high resolution of 16 megapixels, it will delight you with sharp and high-quality portraits with excellent detail. Indoors or in dim light, developers suggest using the phone screen as a “flash”, which illuminates faces with white soft radiation and allows you to maintain the quality of photos.

Colors are reproduced perfectly, but it’s better not to talk about the quality and clarity of the image. You can, of course, get used to manually setting the settings and taking a dozen frames. However, selfies taken with the 16-megapixel camera of the updated Samsumg Galaxy A5 are certainly pleasing
Camera
Both cameras of Samsung A5 (front and main) have a resolution of 16 MP. The main module has an f/1.9 aperture, a focal length of 27 mm and hybrid autofocus. On the one hand, the camera resolution has increased compared to the A5 2020, but the new product has lost optical stabilization and has not gained the ability to record 4K video, which is somewhat disappointing.
The A5 has no serious problems with shooting quality. The pictures turn out almost perfect in good shooting conditions: excellent detail, accurate color rendition and a large dynamic range are pleasing, but in poor lighting the lack of an optical stub still has an effect.
The front camera is good, 16 MP is honest, unlike the interpolated resolution of most competitors. The smartphone records video in FHD /30pfs resolution, the picture and sound quality is not bad, but when shooting moving objects, the picture noticeably strobes (small twitching occurs). Autofocus is present in video mode.

Before purchasing this phone, I was using the previous model a5 2016. When I heard that a new model had been released, I immediately went online and started looking at photos of the new model. At first glance, the phone seemed simple with rounded edges like the Samsung J series phones. I was immediately upset because I was used to square phones like the a5 2015 and a5 2020. But after reading about the characteristics of the phone, my mood immediately lifted. In terms of beauty, the phone was inferior to the previous model, but in terms of characteristics it was clearly ahead. And 2 weeks after the presentation, new models began to appear in stores. And now the long-awaited moment!!! I go into the store, look at the display window and ohhhhhhh. I was very wrong about the beauty of the phone. It turns out that the rounded edges of the phone only decorate the phone. The phone works very quickly, as it has a powerful processor and 3 GB RAM. The price of the phone is certainly not small, but I fell in love with this phone and bought it.

I really like Samsung smartphones for their build quality and their GORGEOUS juicy Super Amoled displays with REAL black color! And the new A series 2020, I’ll tell you, came out very well... Before this phone, I owned the previous A5 2020 model, but now it has become a nice gift for my wife, and I’m happy with the new model. :)) It looks very cool in black! The overall impressions are very pleasant! In the hand it feels like a premium device. Moderately weighty, moderately large. It is very comfortable to hold in your hands thanks to the 2.5D beveled glass. In many ways it is not inferior to the flagships of the market, and in some ways it is superior! And it looks solid and stylish, and fingerprints will be less noticeable! The ONLY downside, in my opinion, is the price.

I haven't been using it for long, but I'm happy with the phone. The battery is good, the energy-saving mode works great, during the day there was 15% charge, it saved it until the evening. The camera takes great photos. The fingerprint scanner works fine and fast, a very convenient feature. I also like the ability to see the calendar and time all the time; in my opinion, it doesn’t strain the battery. The phone itself flies, I switched to it after the S4, I was happy with it too, but the A5 is still MUCH faster. It fits just perfectly in the hand. But the only shortcomings can be said about the body. Of course, they made it beautiful, but it was terribly soiled, I just wiped it, picked it up and it was all dirty, I liked the S4 more in this regard, it has a leather cover, 2 years without a cover, it was not scratched or burst, the leather is very good. Due to the glass, it is also slippery and without a cover it easily slips out of your hand; I almost dropped it a couple of times. I took the original silicone case and the problem disappeared. Another small nuance about the packaging: when you remove the back film, a piece of paper with a serial number, etc. is glued to the lid, so it’s quite difficult to tear off this piece of paper! Especially so as not to scratch the glass. I dealt with this, but there was glue left, I started wiping it with liquid for cleaning computers and keyboards, but it didn’t really help, in short, with grief, I wiped the glue in half. If I weren’t too lazy to look for how and where, I would write an angry letter about this.

A review of the smartphone showed that the updated Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is clearly ahead of its 2016 and even more so 2015 counterparts. The phone is equipped with decent software and, due to its good performance, consistently occupies one of the leading positions among the niche of middle-class smartphones. The only thing that should confuse future owners is the rather high price of the device. However, it is fully explained by the characteristics of the phone and the presence of additional interesting gadgets in it.
