Leaking data about Samsung flagship smartphones a couple of months before release is already a tradition. And even though there is not a lot of information about the Galaxy S11, S11 Plus and S11e, some insiders already allow us to get a first impression of the upcoming trendsetter for 2020. The latest leak reports that in the direction of mobile cameras, Samsung has decided to follow the trends set by Apple and Google. It seems, like last year, we are waiting for another rethinking of mobile photography by South Korean engineers.
Samsung Galaxy S11: five cameras on board
Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S11 and Samsung S11 Plus will use an ISOCELL Bright HMX matrix with a resolution of 108 megapixels, developed jointly with Xiaomi, as the main camera. Along with the standard lens, there will be a depth sensor on the back for portrait shots, as well as an ultra-wide-angle, macro and telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. A total of five cameras. In addition, it is expected that the new smartphone will be able to record 6K videos (6016 x 3384 pixels) at 60 frames per second or [email protected]
You don’t have to wait until 2020 to see the capabilities of Samsung’s new matrix. This sensor is already used in Xiaomi Mi Note 10 (Mi CC9 Pro in the Chinese market) and allowed Xiaomi’s flagship solution to receive high marks for image quality from the DxOMark test laboratory, which specializes in comparing mobile cameras.
Interestingly, before this Samsung installed only 2x telephoto lenses in its smartphones, which had a built-in image stabilization function. And until some time it was simply impossible to pull off such a thing with a five-fold zoom. However, insiders from SamMobile dug up a “Samsung” patent that describes a camera module with five times zoom and... OIS (optical stabilization). It is called “Samsung Hubble”, and its design is based on the arrangement of lenses according to the periscope principle.
Main difference
Borrowing the camera idea from Apple and Google, Samsung significantly enlarged its module, turning it from square to rectangular. This was done in order to accommodate a larger number of matrices - judging by the images, there will be five of them. This is not a world record - the first Android smartphone with a penta-camera was the Nokia 9 PureView, shown in winter 2020, available in Russia since April 2020. For comparison, the rear camera in the iPhone 11 Pro contains three sensors, and in the Google Pixel 4 XL there are only two.
If you look closely, the symmetry in the arrangement of the main camera sensors is completely absent - this is either a mistake by the creator of the render, or some cunning plan of Samsung itself. In total, the camera includes eight elements - five cameras, an LED flash and two barely noticeable sensors, the purpose of which was not established at the time of publication of the material.
The main camera sensors of the new Samsung flagship are scattered in a chaotic manner
The general specifications of the main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus remain unknown. The main sensor in it, according to preliminary data, is a 108 MP Samsung Bright HMX, exactly the same as in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro camera phones available in Russia. One of the five cameras should receive a full 5x optical zoom and the ability to record video in 8K at 30 frames per second.
Another difference from the Galaxy S11 Plus is the location of the front camera - the tenth generation S-series smartphones had a cutout in the upper right corner of the display, while the S10 Plus had a double selfie module and ate up a decent amount of screen area. In the S11 Plus, it was decided to place the front camera in the center at the top edge and make it single, like the smartphones of the Galaxy Note 10 business line, which debuted in August 2020.
Samsung Galaxy S11: appearance
A day earlier, before the camera specifications were leaked, the first images of the new Samsung Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e also appeared on the Internet. In particular, the well-known insider Ice Universe published on his Twitter the front panel of the S11, on which a small cutout for the selfie camera is visible, located in the center of the screen at the top.
The OnLeaks portal, meanwhile, published the first renderings of the Galaxy S11 smartphone, which confirm the presence of a “hole” for the front camera on the front side. Let us remember that the Galaxy S10 had this cutout in the upper right corner. It may seem that the smartphones have not undergone any more changes, but in fact this is not the case - the upper and lower frames on the screen have become noticeably thinner.
According to earlier leaks, the screen of the Galaxy S11 and S11 Plus will be larger than that of their predecessors from the tenth series. The OnLeaks portal predicts a diagonal in the range of 6.63-6.67 inches, but not all insiders agree on this opinion. Among the numerous rumors, there is another figure floating around - “6.9 inches”.
Samsung Galaxy Note 11 shocked everyone
Android 07.11.2019 | 0
While the whole world is waiting for the announcement and launch of such a new product as the Galaxy S11, the South Korean corporation is already creating a new one, more advanced in all respects, which will be released only in the second half of 2020. Today, November 7, 2020, the first details have appeared online about what such a long-awaited new product as the Samsung Galaxy Note 11 will be able to please all buyers. It is credited with advanced technical equipment, due to which it will be the most attractive in all respects, but will this top-level phone and something else that will definitely shock everyone, because users have never seen anything like this in an Android smartphone. The only question is how efficient the upcoming innovation will be.
As the Taiwanese resource DigiTimes writes, citing its sources in the supply chain, the new Samsung flagship, which will be announced in August-September 2020, will receive a new type of biometric protection. Thus, the brand’s management considers it necessary to abandon the use of an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner due to the large number of criticisms addressed to it, and they plan to replace it with a more promising promising technology. It is a 3D facial scanning technology that is currently used in the iPhone X, XS and 11, called Face ID. We are talking about its clone, which will fully work within the Android platform.
To provide such a new feature, Samsung wants to install an advanced front camera in the Galaxy Note 11, complemented by a ToF sensor. Due to this, it will be possible to easily and simply take three-dimensional photographs and record videos, which is what is necessary for a full-fledged Face ID face scanner, although it will, of course, have a different name. There is no way to deceive such technology using photography, because the sensor will check the image for three-dimensionality, and any photograph, as we know, is flat. Thanks to this new development, the South Korean corporation will be able to completely abandon the use of fingerprint scanners, just like Apple products, which have not been installed in them since 2020.
This information is not commented on by Samsung in any way, so you need to treat it with a grain of salt. AKKet.com is convinced that if the brand actually implements an analogue of Face ID in the Galaxy Note 11, the company will not abandon the fingerprint scanner built into the display, since this electronics manufacturer has always strived to make its own branded products that are as functional as possible, especially against the backdrop of many competitors. It is unlikely that his views on this matter will change in 2020, so abandoning the ultrasonic sensor for reading fingerprints is extremely unlikely. Information on this matter should become clearer closer to the summer of next year.
Earlier it became known that the flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite “for the poor” will soon go on sale.

Galaxy Note 11SamsungSmartphonesFlagships
Samsung Galaxy S11: hardware filling
Information about the hardware base of the new Samsung smartphones from the S11 series has not yet leaked to the Internet, but insiders suggest that the 2020 flagships may receive a Snapdragon 865 and at least 6 GB of RAM as a processor. The devices are also expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon X55 modem for connecting to 5G mobile networks.
In contrast to this opinion, there is an assumption that the flagship “Samsungs” will traditionally be released on the South Korean manufacturer’s own chips: the Exynos 990 processor with the Exynos 5123 modem. Let us assume that Samsung will choose “Exynos”, because “Qualcomm” processors will cost more, which will entail entails an increase in the already unbudgetary price tag. We also have little doubt that the flash memory installed in the S11 series will belong to the modern UFS 3.0 standard. That is, it will provide fast data reading and writing speeds.
5000 mAh battery and screen with refresh rate up to 120 Hz
Another leak was discovered on the website of the Dutch Samsung fan club, where they published a photo of the battery from the future Galaxy S11 Plus. The insider was found in the South Korean certification database SafetyKorea: as can be seen in the picture, the battery has the serial number EB-BG988ABY , which corresponds to the model number of the Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus (SM-G988) .
And the most interesting thing is that the battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh. This is the largest battery Samsung has ever put in a top-end device. For comparison, the Galaxy S10 Plus has a 4,100 mAh battery, while the Galaxy Note 10 Plus has a 4,300 mAh battery. A possible reason for installing such a capacious battery may be that Samsung plans to release a smartphone with a high display refresh rate (up to 120 Hz).
According to rumors, the Cupertino residents are planning to do the same thing with their 2020 iPhones, since even OPPO, Google and OnePlus are already installing 90 Hz displays in their smartphones. But they are far from being in the top three in global smartphone sales, unlike Samsung and Apple.
Another hint about the use of a 120 Hz display is given by the beta version of the proprietary OneUI 2 shell, available for the current Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (according to rumors, new Galaxy smartphones will run on it). The fact is that in the beta there is an additional option to activate the 120 Hz mode, although the Galaxy Note 9 itself only supports 60 Hz.
What is known about Samsung Galaxy S11e: a “lightweight” flagship
Following OnLeaks, the Indian website PriceBaba joined the wave of leaks, highlighting an image of the Samsung Galaxy S11e . Visually, it is identical to older versions of the devices, only there are three cameras in the main unit, not five. And, by the way, it is unlikely that it will also receive a 108-megapixel camera.
Unlike the Galaxy S10e, which was released with a flat display, the front panel of the S11e has visible curves around the edges and matches the appearance of the S11 and S11 Plus. The estimated screen diagonal will be from 6.2 to 6.3 inches, and the dimensions of the smartphone itself will be 151.7 x 69.1 mm. There is also talk of a 4000 mAh battery capacity.
The fingerprint sensor will likely move into the screen as we don't see it in the images of the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e. Please note that the headphone jack has also disappeared from the case. But there is still a USB Type-C port, and it is suitable not only for charging, but also for compatible “ears”. However, an adapter from USB-C to 3.5 mm jack will probably be included with the devices. It is not difficult to assume that new items will be expensive, and therefore the additional “body kit” must match.
Galaxy S11: everything we know about Samsung's future flagships, their prices and release date
Rumors have long been hovering around the Galaxy S11, Samsung's new series of mass-market flagships. And this is logical: unlike the Galaxy Fold for $2000 or the Galaxy Note 10 Plus for $1100, these phones promise to be cheaper and, in addition, will have a more modern and powerful platform. Let's try to put together all the leaks and assumptions that have been voiced to date.
This year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S10 5G, Note 10 Plus 5G, Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy Fold - all of these devices received 5G support. The S11 family will be based, of course, on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 single-chip system, and in some markets on the Samsung Exynos 990 5G. It may still include models without 5G support, but for now this seems unlikely. As expected, the entire Galaxy S11 series should receive 5G modems. And at least three devices will be presented: S11E, S11 and S11 Plus (or S11, S11 Plus and S11 Pro), respectively, with screens of 6.2/6.4″, 6.7″ and 6.9″. It is claimed that all of them will have curved edges, unlike the 2020 Galaxy S10E, which had a flat display.

An important question: when will the public see the new devices? For years, Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy S series smartphones in late February or early March, sometimes at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, sometimes before, and a couple of times after. If Samsung follows last year's model, we'll see the Galaxy S11 shortly before MWC. According to rumors, we are talking about Tuesdays: either February 11 or 18. The company will begin accepting pre-orders shortly thereafter.
So what can we get from the Samsung S11 in terms of design? It is said that there will definitely be the rounded edges that have become a trademark feature of the Galaxy S, but with a more rectangular look in the style of the Galaxy Note 10. We are also talking about a thin body and curved edges for all models, as opposed to the flat screen of the Galaxy S10E. The camera array could become square, positioned on the left, and jut out a lot in the vein of the iPhone 11 and Google Pixel 4. Let's hope that's not the case.
Now the most interesting part is the camera. It is said that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S11 series (or at least one of the variants) with a main camera with a 108-megapixel sensor. It sounds a little crazy, although the Chinese Xiaomi has already released the Mi CC9 Pro smartphone, which uses a 108-megapixel camera. By the way, Snapdragon 865 supports working with modules with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels, so Samsung has no technical obstacles. But it is claimed that the 108-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S11 will supposedly be more expensive and advanced compared to the one used in Xiaomi (ISOCELL Bright HMX 1/1.3″).
Other features of the rear camera include, at a minimum: an ultra-wide-angle module; module with a periscope-like telephoto lens, 5x zoom and 48-megapixel sensor; as well as a ToF volume capture sensor. There were also rumors about new Galaxy S11 camera features such as Single Take Photo (probably an automatic intelligent selection of the most successful photo from a series), Night Hyperlapse (night fast shooting), Director's View (a kind of director's mode) and support for 8K video. By the way, the Snapdragon 865 does support 8K video recording.
As for the front camera, it is expected to be single and placed in the perforated hole of the screen.
The screens of Samsung's new flagships will be able to operate at a refresh rate of 120 Hz - this is designed to make animation and scrolling much smoother than at today's usual frequency of 60 Hz. While a 120Hz refresh rate is great for gaming and other fast transitions (even 90Hz, like the OnePlus 7T, adds visual comfort), it will take a toll on battery life. Fortunately, the Galaxy S11 will also allow you to enable classic 60Hz mode.
It is alleged that the largest representative of the series, Galaxy S11 Plus, will allegedly receive a 5000 mAh battery. For comparison, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus battery has a capacity of 4300 mAh, and the device boasts very good battery life. If the rumors are true, such progress cannot but please us - we would like, however, that the weight of the device does not exceed 200 grams.
The idea of an in-screen fingerprint scanner looks interesting at first glance, but the first solutions of this kind, including the Galaxy S10, left much to be desired in terms of accuracy, speed and convenience. Surely the Galaxy S11 will use a much more advanced fingerprint scanner. Perhaps the iris scanner will return to the device or improved face recognition will be implemented.
There's no doubt that every Samsung phone in 2020 will run Android 10 with Samsung's own One UI 2 skin, which was announced in October and is now available in beta form. But what price you should expect is not such a simple question.
Considering that the price of the youngest modern model, the Galaxy S10E, started at $749 at launch, we can suggest that the S11E will be more expensive - all manufacturers are transparently hinting that you will have to fork out for 5G. The initial cost of the older version of the Galaxy S11 Plus can easily increase to $1099 versus $999 for the Galaxy S10 Plus 4G.
