Fans of budget Xiaomi flagships are eagerly awaiting the arrival of new products on sale. After all, each new version surprises with design features and more advanced functionality.
In the summer of 2020, the famous Chinese brand plans to release the Xiaomi Mi Max 4 smartphone, as well as its Pro version. The fourth generation phablet will differ from its predecessors in design, improved multimedia functionality and some characteristics.
The exact release date has not yet been set. But according to experts who regularly monitor the news, the presentation is planned for early June. Although some of them claim that the release date of Xiaomi Mi Max 4 is planned no earlier than mid-August 2020. This means that it will be available for purchase in Russia in the fall. Based on the results of the leaked information, a detailed overview of the predicted characteristics is offered.
Design Features
The main advantage of the Mi Max line of devices is their size. Phablets are similar in size to mini-tablets, but retain all the characteristics of super powerful smartphones with a wide range of functions.
The release of the Mi Max 3 in July 2020 created a real stir among fans of high-tech budget flagships. At a relatively low price, the smartphone has decent performance indicators and opens up many additional opportunities for users to this day.
Xiaomi developers plan to make the new Mi Max 4 even better. The first difference is the diagonal. In version 3, its length was 6.9 inches, and in version 4, standard and Pro versions, the diagonal was increased to 7.2 inches.
It is also worth noting the presence of a cool IPS LCD display with full hd + resolution and a complete absence of frames. The smartphone allows you to see clear images from different viewing angles.
The back of the phablet is made of tempered Gorilla Glass 5, which is resistant to damage. To protect the design of the device as much as possible, the glass body is complemented by a durable metal frame.
The fingerprint scanner in the standard version of Mi Max 4 is located on the back. The smartphone will also have a facial recognition scanner. The Pro version is different from its little brother. In its design, the fingerprint is hidden under glass at the bottom of the screen. They plan to leave the standard headphone jack. The smartphone will also have built-in speakers with a sound amplifier for deep sound and a sensitive microphone with noise reduction function.
The devices are planned to be released in classic black, as well as in blue and red shades with gradients.
Results
Despite the huge diagonal, Xiaomi Mi Max turned out to be an extremely convenient smartphone with good hardware and optimized software. In the near future, we can expect firmware updates that will increase autonomy. But now, taking into account the current exchange rates, this is a replacement for the Xperia Z Ultra.
The basic version reviewed today costs about $250. The flagship Mi Max (4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory) will cost a Russian buyer about $305. The intermediate 3/64 GB option costs $251.
The smartphone's performance will last for another couple of years. In general, if you need a phablet, choose Xiaomi.
Camera
Xiaomi developers want to exceed all the expectations of those who use Mi Max smartphones. In version 4 they integrated the Samsung Isocell GM1 module with artificial intelligence. This smartphone, unlike Mi Max 3, is equipped with three external cameras 48MP + 13MP + 8MP with LED flash. The predecessor has only two of them.
This updated system will allow you to take professional-quality photos and videos on the move, in low light, and in the dark. Also, the functionality of the camera will be adapted for taking portrait photos.
It is planned to install a front camera with a set of settings for selfies at 13 MP.
Mi Max 4 and 4 Pro review
The Xiaomi Mi Max line of smartphones has been alive and well for three years in a row, and in 2020 the manufacturer plans to release the fourth modification of this smartphone. If the latest leaks regarding the smartphone are true, then the Mi Max 4 will simply be a larger version of the Redmi Note 7. This is hardly a bad thing, since the 7th generation Redmi Note turned out great, so the Mi Max 4 will be another hit. But the news regarding the phablet smartphone doesn’t end there, which means don’t rush to close the tab.
Performance
In order for the user to feel comfortable and fully use all the functions of Mi Max 4, the developers installed a 5800 mAh lithium-ion battery with 18W fast charging in the smartphone. A micro-USB connector is built in to connect the charger.
The performance of the phablet is provided by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with a clock frequency of up to 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 512 graphics processor with a frequency of up to 600 MHz.
With this smartphone, entertainment lovers will be able to fully launch next-generation gaming applications, work with complex graphics and watch videos in 4K format.
Mi Max 4 memory ratios are offered in three options:
- 4Gb RAM + 64Gb – built-in;
- 6Gb RAM + 128Gb – built-in;
- 8Gb RAM +128Gb – built-in.
You can expand the memory capabilities using a removable micro-drive up to 256Gb.

Xiaomi Mi Max 4 and Mi Max 4 Pro – release date, price
Although there is a lot of time left before the release of smartphones, their preliminary prices are already known. The announcement of new products is planned for the summer of 2020, approximately mid-July. As for prices, they are as follows:

The cost of Mi Max 4, as we see, is about $100 more expensive than the minimum cost of Redmi Note 7. The thing is that this is by no means the fault of the Mi Max line, it has nothing to do with it, it’s all Xiaomi’s fault. But how guilty - she simply released the best budget smartphone of the beginning of 2020, most likely surprising herself! After all, the Mi line has always borrowed hardware from Redmi Note, so there is nothing surprising in this, and the Redmi 2020 turned out to be incredible, and the Mi Max 4 will also have a larger display and battery.
