The first officially domestic laptop
announced that it had received a conclusion from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation confirming the production of the Aquarius Cmp NS565 laptop in Russia. Thus, Aquarius says, the Cmp NS565 model has become the first laptop officially recognized by the regulator as completely domestic.
The conclusion of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also mentions the domestic nature of the production of PC4-UDIMM 1Rx16 RAM modules.
The Aquarius Cmp NS565 laptop, which received the conclusion of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, is designed for “safe corporate mobility.” The laptop uses a domestically developed BIOS, the motherboard and memory module are designed and manufactured by Aquarius at a plant in the Ivanovo region in a single production line with the laptop assembly.
To obtain an official conclusion from the Ministry, it confirmed the stages of development and production of a laptop in Russia: from the creation of design documentation to assembly operations at the level of industrial soldering of components and the use of domestic system software.
What types of laptops are there?
The line of these portable computers is represented by laptops that can compete with ordinary personal computers (for example, DeskNote), which have quite impressive sizes and several other technical solutions.
For those who like slightly smaller dimensions, you can choose something more standard than DeskNote, for example, Slim or Ultra Slim. These slim laptops are sure to appeal to SMBs who value convenience over the cutting-edge performance of these rollable desktops.
As for a small netbook and a convertible laptop that looks more like a tablet, this is a good choice for people for whom a computer is nothing more than an opportunity to be constantly online. They take up virtually no space compared to other laptops, and cope well with most of the responsibilities assigned to them. But the performance, functionality, shape, dimensions and weight of netbooks depend on their cost.
For those who like to stand out, there are limited batches of fashion laptops launched into mass production, the cases of which can be covered with jaguar skin.
Import substitution certification
The conclusion received was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in accordance with the “Rules for issuing a conclusion on confirmation of the production of industrial products on the territory of the Russian Federation”, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 17, 2020 No. 719.

Since 2020, the Government of the Russian Federation has been pursuing a policy of import substitution in the IT sector, including establishing the priority of Russian IT equipment over imported ones in government procurement. The definition of clear criteria by which IT products can be classified as domestic is made in Resolution No. 719, as well as the procedure for confirming production in Russia.
The text of Resolution No. 719, in particular, establishes a number of criteria for confirming the production of industrial products on the territory of the Russian Federation. The list of these criteria includes the presence of a special investment contract concluded by an investor, subject or municipality and the Russian Federation for the creation, modernization or development of industrial production with obligations to gradually fulfill the requirements for industrial products within 3 years.
Another criterion is the presence of an examination certificate from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on the compliance of manufactured industrial products with the requirements provided for in the annex to this resolution, as well as a certificate of origin of goods (products), according to which the Russian Federation is the country of origin of goods (products).
Fragment of the conclusion of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the Aquarius Cmp NS565 laptop
“The requirements of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade include the use of domestic raw materials,” noted Vladimir Shibanov , senior vice president of Aquarius. — The Russian microelectronics market cannot yet cover all our needs. In recent years, we have been actively developing our own production of components. Our plant in the Ivanovo region operates a modern automated board assembly line, integrated into a single production circuit with assembly operations. Currently, for Aquarius products, we independently develop and produce motherboards, memory modules and special devices related to the field of information security.”
Classification of laptops
A laptop, unlike a desktop PC, is a portable compact device with a built-in battery function, which allows it to be used outside the home or office. Modern laptops are so different that there is no single system for classifying them. One of the most common is the size of the display diagonal (there are from 7 to 17 inches or more). The second, more informative system is based on the technical characteristics and purpose of the device. Depending on the configuration and technical characteristics, the device can be used for office work or as gaming equipment; there are consumer laptops and laptops for professionals; there are business-class devices and budget options. We’ll talk about this classification in more detail: we’ll look at all the main types and types of laptops and figure out who and which device is best suited.
Desknotes
A desktop computer is the most optimal replacement for a regular desktop PC. Unlike its prototype, it is more compact and, like all laptops, portable. At the same time, the desktop retains all the advantages of a desktop PC: high resolution, full-size keyboard, increased functionality and performance. Equipped with a disk drive and sufficient RAM. Compared to other laptops, it has more impressive weight and dimensions. The display diagonal of desktop computers is usually from 15 to 17 inches. The same Sony VAIO VGN-FE11SR, Acer Aspire Ethos 8951G, Toshiba Satellite P200D-12O can serve as a worthy replacement for a PC.
Ultrabooks
The external characteristics of the ultrabook allow us to call it a laptop in a thin-profile case. Such models first appeared on the market in 2011. An ultrabook was a curiosity back then, but today it is indispensable for many users. Modern ultrabooks are usually 11- or 13-inch models weighing up to 2 kg and with an LCD screen. These characteristics make the ultra-thin laptop most suitable for everyday use. Its advantages are best felt when the device needs to be carried with you all the time, in particular, it is indispensable on business trips and when traveling frequently. The best examples of devices of this type are HP Compaq nc2400, Dell XPS 13 9360, Apple MacBook Pro 13 Retina, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
Netbooks
Netbooks first appeared on the market in 2008. This is a type of laptop with a monitor diagonal, usually no more than 12 inches. Devices of this type are compact, lightweight and have a fairly capacious battery, and this is their main advantage, but it is clearly not suitable as a gaming computer or for using graphics programs. The netbook is primarily intended for Internet surfing, watching movies on the go, and writing texts. Typically, the dimensions of a netbook do not allow installing a disk drive in it, but these types of laptops always have a Wi-Fi adapter. In today's market, netbooks are the main competitors of tablets. Some of the best netbooks are Asus X550VB and HP Pavilion g6-2349sr.
Budget laptops
The class of budget laptops are portable computers at affordable prices, but at the same time they are characterized by high performance, which is quite enough to fulfill basic requirements. In particular, budget laptops are a good choice for working with office applications and multimedia programs. Most often, devices of this type are characterized by average or above average weight and the same dimensions. These are Lenovo M30 70, Asus X541SA-XO055D, HP 250 G5 W4N03EA and others.
Mid-range laptops
This is the most popular and largest category in the laptop market. Devices of this class are not distinguished by the highest performance, but still have their advantages. You need to understand that the processor in such models is usually no higher than the entry-level or mid-level. The video adapter, as a rule, is built-in, and if discrete, then it is far from the latest series. In addition, middle-class laptops do not have an elaborate design: most often they are devices in a plastic case. Typically, laptops of this type are used for office work, as well as as an economy class multimedia option. It cannot be said that this option is the best for gaming, but some users choose just such laptops for gaming. Example: Asus X540LA, Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E570.
Business laptops
Laconic design, 14-inch screen, high performance, long operating time and light weight - in short, this is how business-class laptops can be characterized. This type of laptop is chosen by business people for working outside the office. These devices are the best for use on business trips. Sometimes models of this class are equipped with professional video cards, have connectors for a docking station, and support TRM protection modules. As a rule, business laptops have the Pro version of Windows installed. The best examples are Sony VAIO VGN-SZ1XRP, Asus UX430UA-GV282R, Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490UA-BE107R.
Multimedia laptops
This is a rather vague category of laptops, which usually includes devices with mid-class processors and video cards, as well as a multimedia keyboard. Laptops of this type are suitable for almost any purpose, including computer games. In this category, there are almost no laptops with a diagonal smaller than 15.6 inches. Most multimedia laptops are no different from mid-range devices. A distinctive feature of some multimedia laptops is the ability to broadcast video on the back of the lid, which allows you to view video files without opening the laptop. Also, some more expensive models have a TV tuner and remote control. As for the OS, in laptops of this class it is usually Windows 7 containing Windows Media Center components. Good examples of multimedia laptops: Asus K550VX-DM360D, Dell Vostro 5568.
Gaming laptops
Experienced gamers still remember well the times when it was possible to experience all the joy of gaming exclusively on a desktop PC. The appearance of powerful gaming laptops on the computer market has made a real revolution.
A fast processor, 8 GB of RAM, a powerful graphics card, a gaming keyboard and a 15-inch display are the components that turn an ordinary laptop into a powerful gaming laptop. But this is not all the requirements. A device suitable for gamers must support NVIDIA G-Sync technology, which, in fact, is the main one for creating high-quality animation. The best representatives of gaming class laptops can be called Asus GL553, Dell Inspiron 7559, Dell Alienware 15, Lenovo Y700-17.
Mobile workstation
Laptops of this class are needed by a fairly narrow circle of computer users. Laptops of this type are the choice of people professionally involved in 3D modeling and CAD. The main difference between these devices and other types of laptops is a professional NVIDIA Quadro FX or ATI FireGL video card, a high-performance processor and a high-resolution display. Example: HP ZBook 17 G4, Precision 5520, Dell Precision.
Rugged laptops
If you have to work in extreme conditions, then there is nothing better than the so-called rugged laptops, which are the “off-road vehicles” in the world of computer technology. Since these devices are not afraid of high humidity, aggressive chemical environments, extremely high or low temperatures, shock, dust and vibration, they are actively used in the army, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and also as industrial computers. Classic representatives of this type include Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-31, Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-19 mk5, Getac V110.
Transformers and tablet laptops
Transformable computers are a cross between tablets and laptops. Hence the other name for the device – tablet laptop. Like tablets, convertibles feature a touch screen, but at the same time are equipped with a body with the same type of keyboard as regular laptops. Another feature of such computers is a rotating display with a monitor not exceeding 15 inches. The advantage of this type of laptop over others is the ability to enter information using a traditional keyboard or using a touchpad. Cons: not the highest performance, relatively high power consumption and high cost. But still, devices of this type are the best choice for those for whom it is important to always have a computer at hand and quickly enter information. Examples of such laptops: HP Stream x360, Lenovo B8000, Assistant AP-941, Asus TF701T.
Other classes
But even this list cannot be called a complete overview of all classes of modern laptops. After all, there are also so-called mass-produced laptops with a diagonal of 14 to 16 inches, which can easily be called the most popular on the smart technology market. Compact but rather weak subnotebooks with a small screen size (usually with a diagonal of 11 to 13.3 inches) are the choice of those for whom it is important to always have a laptop on hand, even if it is not very productive. An ultraportable laptop is the best device for working on the go. Its main advantages: minimal weight (up to 1 kg) and the ability to operate autonomously for up to 7 hours. Just look at the photos of fashion laptops to understand that they are the brightest and most stylish in the laptop family. Although their technical specifications are generally in the class of conventional subnotebooks, their design is always impressive. Most often, the cases of such computers are made of metal or materials more unusual for computer technology. In addition, their cases are often decorated with jewelry.

So what is a laptop?
A laptop is a portable, folding personal computer that has its own battery life, i.e. temporarily independent of nutrition; a composition of integrated components and input and output devices and is rightfully considered a portable and mobile device.
The Russian-language name “laptop” was borrowed from the English language; the founding word is “Notebook” (written book). There is another name - “Laptop”, which literally means “on your knees”. Thanks to its smaller size compared to other PCs, the laptop is a serious piece of equipment for work and a device for entertainment.
This computer representative fits well into a special bag, which makes it easier to transport, and you can learn about other computers in the article: What computers are there, types and types of computers.
DNS
For example, quite popular and inexpensive are laptops from the Russian company DNS, which is both a manufacturer and the owner of a retail network for the sale of computer and digital equipment. The DNS company produces both budget office-type laptops and powerful gaming laptops. For example, the DNS series of gaming laptops in ultra-compact cases with an 11.6-inch display diagonal was recently introduced. DNS Gamer 11.6″ are equipped with dual-core and quad-core Intel processors of the latest generation Ivy Bridge. In addition, all laptops in this line have 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and a powerful GeForce GT 650M graphics adapter with 1 GB of DDR3 video memory. The cost of such laptops ranges from $800 to $900, which is quite inexpensive for a device with such characteristics. You can purchase laptops at any DNS digital equipment store, of which there are plenty in almost all cities of Russia.
Let's first try to highlight the strengths of DNS laptops. The quality of the matrix is quite good, the keyboard and touchpad are also quite good. A large number of ports (3xUSB, VGA, D-Sub, HDMI, etc.) and their location are also pleasing. The disadvantages include the not very durable and easily soiled case. On some models the keyboard flexes quite a bit. Also, the battery charge lasts only 2.5 hours on average, which is not a very good indicator.
Advantages and disadvantages
As mentioned earlier, the presence of a rechargeable battery in a laptop gives it an advantage over an ordinary computer in its mobility. But the smaller dimensions of the device complicate the manufacturing technology of its components and, as a result, increase the final price of the laptop itself.
Smaller size and weight, in most cases, predetermine lower performance, but at the same time it is enough to perform everyday tasks. Therefore, less productive laptops may cost more than PCs with similar parameters, but you can pay more for convenience.
But the complete package in one case does not at all prohibit the use of third-party devices by connecting them to specially designated connectors. In principle, some may consider this configuration of a laptop to be a disadvantage, because each of its components increases its overall cost.
The capabilities of the integrated Wi-Fi adapter is a good advantage when using wireless Internet. And a camera with a microphone and integrated acoustics is unlikely to hurt.
The really noticeable drawback of the laptop is the limitation in further modernization and the possibility of installing an alternative operating system that is not always present. While replacing a hard drive with more powerful SSDs and increasing RAM is not difficult, it will not always be possible to replace a video card and other components.
As for installing an alternative operating system, not every manufacturer provides support for operating systems other than the preinstalled one. However, the laptop may be equipped with specific components that may cause compatibility issues.
Memory
Laptop models received two memory options: RAM and internal. The RAM is made in a reduced size with the SO-DIMM form factor. Although the characteristics are no different from the RAM in a desktop PC, the price of the laptop version is slightly higher. In the case of a processor, there is an option to expand the RAM using an additional slot, but it also happens that the memory is soldered to the motherboard, and therefore it is impossible to increase it.
The second memory device is the hard drive. It also has its own format and is slightly more expensive than the standard model. The volume of the hard drive can be different - up to 1-2 terabytes. Now, instead of the classic hard drive, they began to use solid-state SSDs, which were created on the basis of flash memory.
DNS Extreme 0802724
The developers paid special attention to the design of the device during assembly. This device is equipped with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, the memory is 2.4 GHz. At the same time, the amount of RAM is 8 GB. If the user has a need, it can be increased to 24 GB. Based on these indicators, this model is an excellent option for games and video editing.
This laptop is designed for comfortable daily work of the user thanks to the widescreen diagonal of 15.6 inches, resolution 1920x1080. This model is well suited for music lovers and those who like to watch movies due to the hard drive capacity with a Serial ATA interface of 1000 GB. You can purchase this model at an affordable price. At the same time, the build quality is at the highest level. The laptop is distinguished by the presence of a discrete graphics card, wireless interfaces and a durable case. The device also includes a video camera. With its help, if necessary, you can communicate both on personal and work issues.
Historical reference
It’s best to start a review of laptops with their history. And these devices have quite a lot of them. In general, the idea to create a device that would be suitable for work, study and could replace a notepad appeared back in 1968. Then Alan Kay dreamed of creating a device with a flat screen and the ability to connect to networks without additional cables.
But it took 14 years for such an idea to come to life. The first laptop became popular in the world thanks to William Moggridge. By today's standards, the device was inferior even to a “smart” flower pot. Inside there was an Intel chip with a frequency of 8 MHz, and there was only 340 KB of RAM. But this option was intended for NASA employees, so it cannot be found on the desks of ordinary users.
For them, the model appeared earlier, in 1981. The laptop weighed 11 kilograms, RAM was 64 KB, the processor operated at a frequency of 4 MHz. The device had two built-in drives and three connectors. The display measured 8x6 cm. Such a gadget could be purchased for $1,800. The development of laptops has been rapid. Already by the beginning of the 90s, Intel specially developed a mobile processor that was energy efficient and could be easily placed in a compact case.
