Why do you need After Effects?
Before we start learning how to use After Effects, it is important to determine why this program is at all, how it differs from others. Moreover, you probably know that there is another program - Premiere Pro, which is produced by the same company. So why then do you need two video editing programs?
As Premiere Pro becomes more and more powerful, there is a greater chance that you will be able to complete your project just inside this program. But as you build up your skills as a video editor, you'll sooner or later be faced with a situation where you need a lot more precision and flexibility to create a truly unique scene. This usually happens when effects come into play.
The way I could illustrate this difference is by comparing Premiere Pro to a saw and the implications for a scalpel. Both are used to shorten things. But, if you want to cut down a tree, then you better use a saw, and if a person needs to remove the appendix, then it is better to use a scalpel, which is much more accurate, but with which cutting down a tree may be possible, but very difficult.
