Nvidia Gamestream
Offering a solution similar to Steam Link, Nvidia Gamestream (available through the Nvidia Shield TV device) is also capable of streaming video and other media from the Internet.
This, along with a built-in game controller and remote (both with built-in microphones for voice commands), explains why it's significantly more expensive than the Steam Link. Note that a suitable Nvidia graphics card will cost you an additional $100.
Once set up, if you have a PC or laptop on the same network with a suitable Nvidia GTX series GPU, Nvidia Shield TV can manage game streaming from your PC to your TV.
Meanwhile, if your gaming rig isn't running on empty, the Nvidia Shield TV will let you stream video games from the cloud. GeForce NOW is available for $7.99 per month and will stream games to your TV via the Nvidia Shield set-top box.
How to Stream Games on Nvidia Shield TV
Please note that performance varies depending on several factors. The specific GPU, network quality, and connection type determine how to stream a game on a PC. Ideally, run both the host computer and the Shield TV without connecting to an Ethernet network either directly or using a power adapter. But Wi-Fi will work depending on the strength of the specified router. [Read: 20 Best Streaming Apps for Nvidia Shield TV 2020: Movies, Music and More]

A few words about NVIDIA GameStream and ShadowPlay technologies
Yesterday at an event in Montreal, NVIDIA announced not only the GeForce GTX 780 Ti video card, but also several promising technologies. We have already talked about one of them - G-Sync, and now it’s the turn of the two remaining solutions, which NVIDIA calls GameStream and ShadowPlay.
Behind the first word lies a game streaming technology that combines two previous initiatives: GRID, or streaming to a computer or Shield gaming device from the Internet, and GeForce PC Streaming, or streaming from a computer to a Shield. There are no plans for any changes in the operating mechanisms of the mentioned technologies; NVIDIA is simply combining them under a common name.

However, GameStream will not do without innovations. In particular, the Shield will be able to work as a stationary console: the device will connect to the TV via an HDMI cable, and communication with the game controller will be via the Bluetooth interface. Typically, games are supposed to be launched on a PC and then broadcast to the Shield, from where the image will be displayed on the TV.
It may seem that there is no need for a “layer” between the TV and the computer, the latter is already capable of displaying images on the screen and working with a variety of controllers, but NVIDIA is pursuing a more global goal: in the future, GameStream will serve as the foundation for online game streaming services.
ShadowPlay was originally introduced as a utility for recording video using a hardware codec. This mechanism allows you to minimize the load on the computer and avoid a serious drop in performance in games. Therefore, NVIDIA came up with the idea of using ShadowPlay to continuously record gameplay.
Only an excerpt from the last 20 minutes of the virtual adventure will be saved in the computer's memory, but if desired, players will certainly be able to adjust the duration manually. ShadowPlay will also allow you to broadcast via the Twitch.tv service.
NVIDIA will release a beta version of ShadowPlay on October 28, the utility will become part of GeForce Experience.
GameStream with Shield TV Notes
Although the process is quite simple, there are a few things to pay attention to. As I mentioned, I highly recommend using the Shield TV, PC, or both without a wired connection. This ensures that your network is not overloaded with network streaming traffic.
It is noteworthy that this method of playing PC games on Nvidia Shield set-top boxes works with both desktop computers and laptops. But for those with switchable graphics, you may run into a problem. On my HP Omen laptop equipped with an i7 and GTX 965m, some games would launch with a black screen. I had to manually specify which graphics to use, in this case discrete rather than integrated.
To do this, open the Nvidia Control Panel.

Once you open it, select your Nvidia high-end processor from the drop-down list . Then click Apply .

NVIDIA demonstrated a reference smartphone based on Tegra 4i
Yesterday's announcements from NVIDIA were not limited to the publication of information about the characteristics and cost of the GeForce GTX Titan gaming video card; the company also introduced the Tegra 4i processor with an integrated Icera i500 modem, which was previously known to us under the symbol Gray.
The new processor differs from its cousin Tegra 4 not only in the presence of an integrated LTE modem, but also in the architecture of the computing cores. If Tegra 4 has four cores with ARM Cortex-A15 architecture with an auxiliary fifth core, then Terga 4i is content with more compact ARM Cortex-A9 cores of revision R4. The fifth core, which provides energy saving, is also present. 60 graphics cores provide support for Chimera technology, which allows you to improve the quality of photographs using the HDR method, stitch together panoramic images using HDR with an arbitrary camera trajectory, and also capture objects in autofocus mode with one tap on the screen.
Unlike Tegra 4, which is produced on a 28nm HPL process, the Tegra 4i processor is produced on 28nm HPM technology, which allows for higher clock speeds. Tegra 4i computing cores operate at a frequency of 2.3 GHz. In addition, Tegra 4i has more compact die sizes - about 60 sq. mm versus 80 sq. mm for Tegra 4. Serial Tegra 4i processors will appear at the end of 2013, the first products based on them will be released in the first quarter of 2014.

The Phoenix reference platform for creating smartphones based on Tegra 4i was presented to the public. It is noteworthy that a mobile device of this type can be offered at a price from $100 to $300. Not bad for the stated capabilities of the graphics subsystem and the presence of a built-in LTE modem. Not much is known about the characteristics of the reference smartphone: it uses a Tegra 4i processor, is equipped with a five-inch screen with a resolution of 1080p, has a body thickness of no more than 8 mm and supports 4G networks. The standard camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels and supports PRISM 2 technology. It has not yet been announced which of NVIDIA’s partners is ready to produce similar smartphones with their own modifications.
