Description Vernee Thor E
Vernee Thor E - incredible autonomy!
The operating time of a smartphone on a single charge is really important for every user. However, power bank smartphones often do not have the most attractive appearance, are very thick, and their technical characteristics are rarely pleasing. But the hero of today’s review decided to correct all the shortcomings of his “brothers”.
The design of the new product is surprising. Minimal display frames, compact dimensions even for a 5-inch screen, ergonomic metal body - how did the developers manage to fit a 5020mAh battery here?! And if you also remember about the presence of a responsive, fast fingerprint scanner, then all questions disappear. Producers are magicians and sorcerers. The 5-inch IPS-OGS display itself has HD resolution, which allows you to reduce power consumption even further. Up to 15 hours of active screen time guaranteed!
The hardware itself is also economical. The combination of the Mediatek MT6753 processor, 3GB of RAM and the Mali T720MP3 video chip is quite suitable for modern games that have an “appetite” for resources. 16GB of ROM, MicroSD memory cards up to 128GB - even lovers of high-quality audio and video content will not experience a lack of space for storing information.
The design of the rear camera is inexorably reminiscent of Huawei products, and specifically the flagship level. Of course, 8 and 2 megapixel modules will not reach the same level, but in most cases they will take a clear, rich picture. It is also worth considering that the gadget comes out with Android 7.0 OS, and also has OTG and LTE support. Thus, we received a bright, balanced and extremely long-lasting device, while maintaining compactness and ergonomics.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Thor E phone
The Vernee Thor E measures 70.1mm wide, 144mm long and 8.2mm thick. With such dimensions it is convenient to operate the device with one hand. In addition, the weight of the device is about 149 g. Even if you operate the device with one hand, its weight is almost not felt.
If we evaluate the overall ease of use of the phone taking into account the size and weight, then there will be no problems with everyday use.
The smartphone is equipped with an 8-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, which is manufactured at 28 nm. technical process.
The smartphone has 3 GB. RAM, which is quite enough. In very rare cases it will not be enough, but with this amount of RAM, you will rarely have problems.
The device's data storage capacity is 16 GB, and while this is enough for photos, it may not be enough for video shooting and a large number of games.
The phone is compatible with SD cards, so you can easily expand its memory. So you probably don't need to worry about storage capacity.
Thor E has a 5-inch display diagonal. The display is large enough that you will rarely have problems with its size. However, this display is not suitable for writing long texts.
The smartphone has a high-end display and any graphic content you display on it, including videos and games, will be displayed clearly.
The main camera of the phone has 7.99 megapixels, which should be enough in most cases. However, you may be slightly unsatisfied with the quality of the photos.
Also, the smartphone has a 1.92 megapixel front camera, which is low. If you care about the quality of your photos, you should consider a higher-end smartphone.
The battery capacity of Vernee Thor E is 5020 mAh, which is a very large indicator. Compared to other smartphones, the battery life of the Vernee Thor E is very long. With such a capacity, you will be pleasantly surprised by the battery life. Even if you watch videos or play games for a long time, you will not have any problems with the battery.
A little history
Vernee appeared on the market a little over a year ago. Her first smartphone was Thor. At the time of its release, the model had such attractive characteristics and a favorable price that it quickly became popular. It is still selling successfully, which rarely happens with budget models.
As the name suggests, Thor E is positioned as an improved version of last year's hit. Many users expected that it would retain all the advantages of the Thor and add a larger battery. And it's only $120! However, in reality it turned out a little differently.
Vernee Thor E with a 5020 mAh battery is also “energy saving” - 3 days without recharging
What does a user miss most in a modern phone? Of course, a capacious battery that would not have to be charged too often. Everyone loves bright flagships, but sometimes it turns out that a very inexpensive phone is at least somewhat superior to them. This happened with another new product from Vernee Thor E with a 5020 mAh battery, the capacity of which is enough to not charge the device for three days.
Moreover, the price of the device is only 130 US dollars. Its characteristics include fast charging, and it’s not too thick. The thickness of the new smartphone is 8.2 millimeters. Weighs from 149 grams. Last spring, the Vernee company, which greatly pleased users with the excellent technical characteristics of its flagship, promises that the energy in the Vernee Thor E battery will be enough for 18 hours of video playback, 36 hours of voice communication and a whole month in standby mode. With normal use, the new smartphone will last about three days without recharging.
The technical characteristics of the new product are more suitable for a middle-class smartphone than a budget one. It has a 5-inch HD display and is based on the MediaTek chipset, the CPU clock speed of which reaches 1.5 gigahertz. The RAM capacity of Vernee Thor E is 3 gigabytes. The capacity of the built-in storage is 16 gigabytes. It is possible to use memory cards.
On the back of the Vernee Thor E is its 13-megapixel main camera. But, of course, it is not the hardware that is the most attractive about the new product, but its incredibly capacious battery and fast charging technology, which allows you to charge the device for a whole day of use in just 30 minutes. The characteristics of the charger are 9 volts / 2 amps.
Despite the unusually capacious battery, the new Vernee smartphone also has a special physical button that puts the phone into a power-saving mode, also called “electronic ink” (E-ink) mode, in which the display turns monochrome, the processor clock speed is reduced, and other actions are performed. allowing more careful use of the energy reserves in the battery. A screen image with a desaturated color gamut allows you to use the device longer without charging it additionally. In this mode, only a 20 percent battery level of the device in question will be enough for a whole day of economical use.
But if the user has two hours of time, Thor E can be charged from a completely discharged battery to 100%. It is also noted that the lithium-polymer battery of the smartphone in question has undergone “eight-step testing,” including piercing and heating. A modern approach to the chemical composition of the battery allows it to retain 90% of its original capacity even after 600 charging cycles. This means that the user will be able to enjoy his Thor E for years without experiencing a significant decrease in the device’s operating time between charges.
Celebrating the release of a smartphone so attractive in terms of its specified characteristics, Vernee is offering it at a price of $109 to those who pre-order the new product on a first come, first serve basis. In addition, the consumer is also given the opportunity to win a chance to purchase the new product for only $9.99. And we are talking about a smartphone in a metal aluminum-titanium case with a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and running out of the box running the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
Has Thor E embodied everything that modern users dream of, or would you like to see something else in the device?

Introduction
The Vernee company cannot be called well-known on the Russian market, however, it has still earned some popularity.
Having been created in 2020, the company immediately noted for the development of smartphones with impressive batteries, which became a feature of the brand. Another feature of the manufacturer can be called affordable prices - this makes its models accessible to almost any interested user.
And both of these factors make us look towards the Chinese company, if only because of the unusual combination of qualities, which today is almost impossible to find in competitors.
The hero of the review is Vernee Thor Plus, a smartphone whose characteristics immediately make it clear that the need for daily charging may fade into the background. Let's take a closer look at the technical component of the new product and move on directly to the review.

The capacity of the built-in battery is a record 6,200 mAh. At the same time, the thickness of the device is surprising and breaks the mold - 8.7 mm. In addition, you can select cameras whose resolution is 8.0 megapixels for the front and 13.0 megapixels for the main one. Metal was chosen as the body material.
In general, the set of characteristics is atypical for models of this level, so we will try to figure out whether everything is really as good in reality as the manufacturer promises on paper.
Packaging and equipment Vernee Thor Plus
The smartphone comes inside a snow-white cardboard box. The design is made in the aesthetics of minimalism with a small number of design elements.
There is nothing on the front except the monochrome company logo. The right side of the box is decorated with the company logo and the model name, duplicated on the opposite side.
All technical information is printed on the back of the package.
After removing the cover, the user is greeted with a smartphone packed in a plastic shipping bag. In addition, protective films are glued to both sides of the case, which completely avoid scratches during transportation.
Under the device there is a delivery kit, which includes:
- Charger;
- USB cable;
- Documentation set;
- Clip for opening the card tray;
- Documentation.
The charger is rated at 12V/2A, which means it can charge quickly.
In general, all components are made of high quality and give hope for long-term use.
As for the box itself, the thickness of the cardboard used is sufficient for safe movement.
Equipment and appearance
The first alarm bell rang when I saw the box. Yes, of course, this is a budget device, but somehow it’s too simple. Modest white cardboard, miniature size, poorly legible inscriptions. The delivery set matches the design - smartphone, cable, charger.
More about Thor: Review of Thor's hammer
The device body is made of metal with plastic inserts at the top and bottom of the back cover. The assembly and materials do not cause any complaints. All body parts fit well, nothing bends or creaks.
The appearance of Vernee Thor E stands out from the general range of modern smartphones. Most of them use streamlined shapes, rounded screens and solid bodies with a minimum of parts.
Thor E is not like that. It is rectangular in shape with sharp edges. From the side, the case looks like a sandwich made of three layers - a screen, a metal frame and a back cover. But what is most surprising is the decorative cover of the camera unit, which imitates a solar battery.
The design of Thor E is clearly not for everybody. Perhaps some will like it for its distinct personality, but personally I prefer the streamlined lines of the first Thor.
Design and equipment
The smartphone comes in a strong cardboard box with a corrugated texture. On the reverse side there is a transparent sticker with the main characteristics, IMEI data and color are indicated. The box contains a smartphone (with a built-in 2800 mAh battery and a protective film on the glass), documentation, a discount coupon for your first Uber ride, a microUSB cable and a powerful charger (5V/2A).
More about the Torah: Sacred books of the world's religions: Torah, Bible, Koran
Fans of white and gold shades will not like the Vernee Thor color schemes. There are only black and gray devices to choose from, differing in the color and texture of the back cover. The black one has a soft-touch coating, and the gray one (with a blue tint) has a glossy cover. Both look good in photographs, but in terms of practicality, each has its pros and cons.
The design of the smartphone was created to resemble pebbles, but the appearance cannot be called original, and the logo is located in such a place that few people will see it. Above the 5” screen there are light and proximity sensors, a 5-megapixel camera, a speaker, and below it there are three touch keys without backlight. There is no LED indicator.
On the left is empty, on the right is the volume rocker and power key. An audio jack is placed on the top end, and the bottom one houses a microphone and a microUSB socket. The multimedia speaker, camera eye, flash and fingerprint scanner are located at the rear. The speaker produces below-average volume and sounds flat, with little overlap on the surface.
The lid sits firmly on many latches, but considering that it is still removable and made of plastic, you should not lift it often - this is fraught with the appearance of creaks and backlashes. Just insert a couple of SIM cards and microSD and close the lid forever. This rule applies to all phones with removable covers.
The screen turned out to be unexpectedly good for the price of the phone - pleasant colors, uncritical color inversion at tilts, high brightness and a high-quality oleophobic layer on the rounded Gorilla Glass 3. I think the choice of 720p resolution was correct, since at 5” it is sufficient, and the impact on performance and power consumption is significantly lower than at 1080p (HD resolution has 2.25 times fewer pixels), which is especially important for low-cost solutions.
Screen and sound
The technology for producing screens for even the cheapest smartphones has already been so developed that they all look like twin brothers. Most of them use inexpensive but high-quality matrices produced by Sharp, thanks to which a bright and rich picture is displayed. Thor E distinguished himself here too, but not in the best way.
I don't know how Vernee's engineers were able to achieve this, but the Thor E's screen looks like parchment paper. When viewing color pictures this is not too noticeable, but once you open any service page with a white background, it becomes clear that the white color here is not white at all. And no MiraVision settings can save the situation.
As for the sound, it fully corresponds to the budget status of the device. The volume and quality of the speaker is enough to ensure that you do not miss a phone call. But it is clearly not enough for listening to music. The situation is a little better with headphones.
REVIEW: Vernee Thor smartphone is a new favorite in the budget segment
Before moving on to the review of the Vernee Thor smartphone, it is necessary to say a few words about its pedigree. The company's website reports that the Vernee brand was created in February 2016 on the basis of the powerful OEM manufacturer New-Bund Network Technology, which had previously produced electronics for other companies for a long time. Now the time has come to enter the market on its own, and Vernee is making every effort to make the debut as loud and successful as possible.

Appearance
As you know, people are greeted by their clothes, so we’ll start with the appearance of the smartphone. The Vernee Thor comes in a simple black cardboard box that conveniently houses the charger, USB cable, a few instructions, and the phone itself.
The body of the smartphone is completely plastic and has a now fashionable shape with rounded edges. On the back panel there is a soft-touch coating, thanks to which the device turned out to be quite grippy. Overall, despite the light weight and thin body, the phone fits snugly in the hand and is comfortable to use. However, lovers of metal cases, bright colors and pink rhinestones are unlikely to be impressed by the Vernee Thor. Its design is simple, discreet and will not attract the admiring glances of friends and girlfriends. However, for many people (including me) this is rather an advantage.
However, when designing the interface, the developers made an unfortunate mistake. In an effort to completely minimize cost, they not only got rid of the light indication of touch buttons, but also their usual graphic symbols, limiting themselves to only small, inconspicuous dots. Because of this, at first you have to get used to controlling your smartphone by touch. It's a shame, but Vernee Thor didn't have room for an event indicator.
Hull and strength
Although the body of the Vernee Thor is made of plastic, this does not affect the build quality at all. All parts fit tightly, there is no play or creaking, and considerable effort is required to remove the back cover. However, you won’t have to do this often, but your smartphone won’t break into pieces if it falls from a small height. The video below shows what loads this smartphone can withstand, and although I have not conducted such experiments, I readily believe in their veracity.
The company explains this strength by the presence of a metal frame made of titanium alloy inside the case, which protects all electronic components from damage. To confirm these words, this video was presented on the official Vernee channel, demonstrating the process of completely disassembling the Thor.
Interfaces and sensors
The Vernee Thor smartphone provides communications in FDD-LTE, WCDMA, GSM networks and supports the installation of two SIM cards, each of which has a separate slot. I'm glad that there was also a place for a memory card slot, so you don't have to choose what is more important to you, as in some other devices. The Wi-Fi module (b/g/n, 2.4 GHz) works without any problems, and the presence of economical Bluetooth 4.0 will help you use your smartphone with various physical activity trackers, speakers, scales and other smart gadgets.
To navigate the area, the device is equipped with a navigation system that can receive signals from GPS and GLONASS satellites. This allows the smartphone to quickly and accurately determine the location even in adverse conditions. When testing the navigation system, Thor was able to detect satellites during a “cold start” in about 2 minutes, and then it took no more than 10-15 seconds to determine the location.
Screen
The screen of a smartphone is one of its strongest advantages. It provides a truly bright and clear picture that you wouldn't expect to see in a device in this price range. The picture is perfectly displayed not only indoors, but also outdoors thanks to a solid reserve of brightness. The developers are so confident in the merits of the Vernee Thor screen that they were not afraid to compare its characteristics with the iPhone 6s.
The smartphone display is protected by tempered glass with an oleophobic coating and rounded edges. The Vernee Thor screen is framed with thin frames, which made it possible to fit a matrix with a five-inch diagonal into a fairly compact body. Look at the comparison between our hero and the old Fly 446, which has almost the same dimensions, but at the same time a much smaller screen diagonal.
Performance and autonomy
The heart of this smartphone is the MT6753 processor from MediaTek. This is a 64-bit eight-core processor that will allow Vernee Thor owners to experience absolutely no discomfort when running resource-intensive applications and games for a long time.
This processor also boasts quite economical energy consumption. This is achieved due to the fact that the cores are turned on in turn only when necessary. The operating frequency of the cores also adjusts to the load level. Therefore, during moments of inactivity, the smartphone consumes a minimum of energy, which allows you to extend the battery charge for a day or more. Of course, the capacity of 2,800 mAh cannot be called very large, but you should understand that you shouldn’t count on record-breaking battery life in a budget gadget.
Since we are talking about the battery, it should be noted that the manufacturer initially promised the presence of a fast charging function. However, when testing the device, it was revealed that this can lead to rapid battery wear. Therefore, this function was blocked by software and now it takes about three hours to fully charge the Vernee Thor.
Camera and sound
The Vernee Thor smartphone uses an Aptina Imaging (ON Semiconductor) AR1335 CMOS module with a resolution of 13 megapixels and a matrix size of 1/3.2 as the main camera. It is clear that this is a fairly budget solution, but the device’s camera is quite suitable for taking good pictures, especially in normal lighting. However, it’s better to look at a few photos for yourself and make your own verdict. The shooting was done with default settings, the photographs were not subject to correction (only resizing in GIMP).
But the sound of the smartphone sincerely pleased me. When listening with good headphones, Vernee Thor produces a rich sound palette, rich in both high and low frequencies. The volume reserve allows you to drown out all extraneous sounds even in city transport, so those who like to listen to music on the way to work will like this smartphone.
Fingerprint's scanner
The presence of a fingerprint scanner is one of the distinctive features of this gadget. Indeed, such luxury is rare in smartphones in this price category. Support for this function appeared only in Android 6, so not many users are familiar with it. It's a pity - it turns out to be a very convenient thing!
In Vernee Thor, using a fingerprint, you can not only unlock the device, but also authorize in some applications, for example, make payments on Google Play. At first, you have to get used to placing your finger on the sensor correctly, but after a short training period, the scanner begins to confidently recognize the owner. Especially after the recent software update that the developers specifically released to improve this feature.
Software
The Vernee Thor smartphone uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow as its operating system. At the same time, the manufacturer decided not to fool us with its own shells and presented the system in the purest, one might say, pristine form. This can also be attributed to the advantages of a smartphone, because this ensures maximum speed and stability. And everyone can provide themselves with additional functions and decorations according to their needs and tastes.
The smartphone supports OTA updates, and the developers promise to provide the device with the latest patches and updates (one of them has already been released recently). But what’s much more interesting is that Vernee has released the source code of the operating system, which will allow third-party developers to create their own firmware. This means that owners of this smartphone will soon have the opportunity to install CyanogenMod and other alternative firmware, which is good news.
Results
The undoubted advantages of Vernee Thor include a powerful processor and as many as three gigabytes of RAM, which will allow users to solve almost any problem and even play the most modern mobile games. The screen and sound of the Vernee Thor are excellent and I am sure that no owner will find any reason to complain in this regard. But the body is not for everyone; many may find it too boring or even cheap. Although its quality and durability are excellent, this cannot be taken away. Well, the fingerprint scanner is a very nice additional feature that competitors do not have.
The smartphone has the latest version of the Android operating system, and the company promises support with software updates. An additional plus for Vernee is the open source code, which will allow third-party developers to make the device even better.
Next, for the sake of objectivity of the picture, we should move on to listing the disadvantages, but this turned out to be not such an easy task. The fact is that only unimportant little things come to mind, like the lack of an event indicator and backlighting of the touch buttons. Oh yes, and this incomprehensible story with fast charging, which in the end did not turn out to be.
As a result, all the real or imagined shortcomings of this smartphone are smashed to smithereens by one ironclad argument - the price! At the time of writing, Vernee Thor is selling for $119.99, which is approximately 7-8 thousand rubles. Do you know of other models with similar characteristics that sell for the same price?
Me not.
Performance Vernee Thor E
A favorite trick of marketers is to install not very powerful eight-core systems-on-a-chip in budget smartphones solely for the sake of being able to brag about the number of these same cores. This happened with Vernee Thor. Its “heart of stone” is the inexpensive MediaTek MT6753 chip, which includes eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores that operate at 1.3 GHz.
There is a lot of RAM installed in the smartphone - 3 GB - despite the fact that many budget smartphones cannot boast of even two gigabytes of RAM. The volume of the built-in flash drive is standard - 16 GB, of which about 11 GB are available to the user, the rest of the space is reserved by the operating system . As we remember, you can install a microSD memory card into your smartphone.
More about Thor: ᐅ vernee Thor E reviews - 7 honest customer reviews of vernee Thor E
The MediaTek MT6753 chip really cannot be considered powerful, but it is quite enough to quickly render images for an HD screen. Due to the combination of a low resolution and a large amount of RAM, coupled with a good platform, the smartphone displays operating system animations without any delays, quickly switches between applications and stores many open browser tabs in memory without any problems.
In synthetic tests, the Vernee Thor scores very well. Thus, in AnTuTu Benchmark 6 this smartphone earned 38.4 thousand points, and in the multi-threaded Geekbench 3 task - more than three thousand. These are very good results: note that they are higher than those of many classmates and even more expensive gadgets.
The device copes well with all everyday tasks: web surfing, displaying multimedia content and electronic documents. You can also play on Vernee Thor - the device gets along with most games with a bang. The situation with the most resource-intensive applications is ambiguous - you can run them on a smartphone, but they will slow down, and in order to play at least somehow, you will have to reduce the graphics settings to a minimum.
One way or another, the power reserve of the Vernee Thor is acceptable. The device operates reliably and smoothly – and this is the most important thing. For everything else, at a price of $119, it’s simply too much to complain about.
antutu benchmark test ~expected around 38695
In 2020, Thor on the MT6753 processor with 3 GB of RAM broke all competitors. A year has passed and Vernee has launched the next generation of this smartphone with the same processor and the same amount of memory.
Therefore, the performance of the Thor E is fully consistent with last year's budget smartphone. No progress. Decide for yourself whether this is good or not.
This is enough for surfing, communication, listening to music and videos, and social networks. However, PC gamers will have to avoid overly demanding 3D games as the frame rate may be too low.
Design and build
Describing the Vernee Thor smartphone, let's start the review with its appearance. At first glance, it is not very different from most modern devices in its class. The gadget is discreet, dim, and does not attract much attention at first glance. The body shape is rectangular, the corners are slightly rounded. The body is made of plastic, but inside there is a durable titanium alloy frame. It reliably protects the insides from impacts and damage.
The surface of the soft-touch cover is pleasant to the hands and not slippery. Therefore, the risk that it will slip out of your hands is small. Although this is not terrible for this smartphone model. Judging by the video accompanying the phone on the official website, it can be thrown from a height of one and a half meters, crack nuts with the screen, and even be run over by a car. All these actions do not affect the appearance or performance in any way.
The Vernee Thor has a removable lid. It fits tightly to the body; removing it requires some effort. But the cover will not fall off if accidentally dropped. There are no backlashes, the assembly is high quality. Under the cover there is a non-removable battery and slots for three cards, including an additional memory card up to 128 GB. On the back of the phone, from top to bottom, there is a peephole for the main camera, an LED flash and a fingerprint sensor.
The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate, just like in more expensive models. The fingerprint scanner is not just for unlocking the screen. You can assign authorization to it in selected applications. The Vernee Thor smartphone is not frameless. If the side frames are quite thin, 4.15 mm each, then the top and bottom are larger, about 1 cm. On the bottom there are three touch buttons, two of which are more like dots. They are not backlit, so this makes the job difficult at first.
Autonomy
Autonomy is the most important characteristic of the Thor E. It is because of it that other parameters were sacrificed.
The smartphone has a 5,020 mAh battery that supports fast charging. The developers assure that the battery can ensure full operation of the gadget for 3-4 days without the need to recharge.
During testing, Vernee's words about autonomy were confirmed. Thor E really can withstand several days of normal use (calls, Internet, instant messengers, simple games). And it charges quite quickly - in just two hours.
Separately, it is necessary to mention the special E-link screen saving mode. To activate it, there is a special button on the side of the device. After pressing it, the screen switches to black and white mode, the brightness is reduced, all communications are turned off except cellular communications, and the processor performance is forcibly reduced.

WiFi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n, 2.4 GHz, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi access point mode is a technology for building wireless local networks based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards. Supported by all modern smartphones and many mobile phones. Bluetooth v4.0 Bluetooth is a universal wireless interface for exchanging data between various types of devices at close range. Can be used for file transfer, audio streaming, network connection, printing and other purposes. The newer the version, the greater the speed and number of supported profiles. Navigation GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS For at least 10 years, smartphones have supported the geolocation function using data from satellite navigation systems. At the moment, these are the American-developed GPS, the Russian GLONASS, the Chinese BeiDou and the European GALILEO. As a rule, smartphones support the first two and optionally the rest. NFC No The built-in NFC module of a smartphone is mainly used for contactless payment in applications like Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Can also be used to read data from contactless cards, transfer files, etc. Read more here. Infrared port No Some smartphones have a built-in IR port. In the past, it was used to synchronize data both between two mobile phones and between a phone and a PC. However, now, due to its low speed, the infrared port is used mainly to control external devices in remote control mode. FM radio Yes Built-in radio receiver that allows you to listen to radio stations operating in the FM range. In most cases, it only works when headphones are connected, since the wire is used as a communication antenna. However, there are devices with a built-in antenna. 3.5 mm audio Yes Standard audio jack for connecting wired headsets and headphones. Starting in 2020, some smartphone manufacturers, following Apple, began to abandon it. In this case, to connect regular headphones, you need a special adapter for Lightning/USB Type-C. Camera
When reviewing the cameras of budget smartphones, everyone writes about the same thing: “Yes, the pictures don’t turn out very well, but you yourself understand that you can’t ask for anything more for this money.”
However, the photos of the Vernee Thor E look so bad that this excuse won't work in this case. Even under the most favorable conditions, pictures turn out dark, dull and expressionless. Color rendering, focusing, white balance, exposure are poor.
We probably won’t write anything new in the sections about cameras for entry-level and mid-level smartphones in the near future. All of them, with rare exceptions, have 5-megapixel front and 13-megapixel main cameras - like a carbon copy. This is exactly the set that Vernee Thor got.
The front camera lacks autofocus and flash. With sufficient lighting, it allows you to take good self-portraits and talk to video, but in the dark it is absolutely useless. In pictures taken under artificial light, there is a significant soft effect, lack of contrast and noise. Nothing special.
Vernee Thor - example of a photo taken with the front camera
The main camera is equipped with an autofocus system and a single LED flash. With it, too, everything is clear: to obtain more or less high-quality photographs, light is required, and the more, the better. Otherwise, photos will experience loss of color and detail. In the dark, autofocus may miss the subject. However, the rest of the camera is quite decent.

The smartphone has a 10.64 Wh (2800 mAh, 3.8 V) non-removable battery. For a device with such characteristics, this is quite a decent amount of capacity. The battery lasts for a busy day of work if you periodically let go of the device. The smartphone is charged via a micro-USB connector; a full charging cycle using a standard charger takes approximately two and a half hours. The device does not have its own energy saving algorithms - only standard Android tools.
Vernee Thor - Energy Saving Settings |
In continuous HD video playback mode at maximum screen brightness, with an active Wi-Fi connection and data updating in the background, the device worked for almost eight hours. A very worthy result!
Appearance
The design of Vernee Thor Plus is strict, but without any “zest”. The black body is carefully assembled from metal, glass and plastic, but you won’t see any original design elements here. The design is typical for an inexpensive smartphone: centimeter-long plastic inserts for antennas, touch keys without backlight. The slightly rounded glass smoothly transitions into a plastic frame. Attached to it is a metal back that curves at the edges.
On the right side are the volume and power keys. On the left is a tray for SIM cards and an additional key that activates the energy-saving mode. The headphone jack is kept on the top edge, and the Micro-USB connector is located on the bottom.
The Vernee logo and model name, the only inscriptions on the case, are made on the lower back of the device.
On the front panel of the smartphone, let's pay attention to the fingerprint sensor, which plays the role of a touch-sensitive home button, the front camera, proximity and light sensors, as well as an LED indicator.
Software
The Thor E smartphone runs on the Android Nougat operating system. However, Vernee programmers made several additions and visual improvements to it, after which they called it VOS (Vernee OS). Don't be confused by this name, because this is almost pristine Android.
Among the additions are the ability to mute the sound by turning the device screen down, waking up with a double tap, controlling music playback, turning on the flashlight using gestures and other useful functions.
A big plus is the absence of third-party applications in the firmware. However, some useful programs were also removed for some reason. The clock and calculator were left, but for some reason the standard gallery, mail and music player were cut out.
Performance
The technical characteristics of the Vernee Thor smartphone are collected in the table:
CPU | Mediatek MT6753 |
Number of Cores | 8 Cortex-A53 |
Core clock speed | 1.3 GHz |
Video chip | Mali T720MP |
Number of GPU cores | 3 |
Maximum frequency of video chip cores | 700 MHz |
Random access memory | 3 GB |
Internal memory | 16 GB |
operating system | Android 6.0 Marshmallow/7.0 Nougat |
A review of the specifications shows that Vernee Thor is a powerful smartphone. The 64-bit chipset is made using a 28nm process technology. This suggests that it is not the most modern. Its 8 cores are divided into two clusters. Some perform simple tasks, others connect if the power of the first cluster is not enough. This allows you to use battery power economically.
The processor power and RAM capacity will be enough to perform all everyday tasks: calls, surfing the Internet, watching videos, taking photos. There are no problems with multitasking. You can run modern 3D games. Most of them run on high graphics settings. In synthetic tests, Vernee Thor scores 38 thousand points.
