The official version is entirely in Russian, and if you have an Internet connection configured at the time of installation, you won’t even remember the problems with Russification. If the Internet is not connected during installation, some menu items will be in English, but after connecting to the Internet, all language packs will be downloaded and installed. So why shouldn’t you download such assemblies? It's really simple! There are no viruses in Linux only because the user himself decides what to install on the computer and from what sources. Now imagine what such a version might contain? We do not claim that all creators of unofficial builds are malicious, but this possibility should not be ruled out either. Another reason why you should use only official versions is support on our forum. No one will install the exact assembly you downloaded to answer your questions on the forum and you will be left alone with problems.

Disk partitioning

Another option during the process and click on the continue option.

If you have more than two physical disks, select the appropriate one and click on the button to create a new partition table .

The Linux Mint developers offer you several working environments to choose from. These are MATE, Cinnamon, XFCE and KDE. Most likely, these letters don’t mean anything to you, so let’s look briefly at each of them. The MATE working environment has the simplest and most familiar appearance after Windows. If your computer is rather weak in terms of characteristics, then the Linux Mint XFCE version is suitable for you. For lovers of efficiency and beautiful appearance, there is Linux Mint KDE or Linux Mint Cinnamon. Each version has a bit depth of 32 and 64 bit. 32 bit is recommended for computers with less than 4 GB of RAM. In all other cases, you must select 64 bit.

Starting installation from USB

First of all, before installing Linux Mint, you need to go into BIOS . After starting the personal computer, press the F1, F5, Esc buttons. The required button is usually displayed in the “ Press to Enter setup ” information line when the computer starts.

You will need to go to the section where you can change the download priority . First there must be a flash drive to boot from Linux Mint. The difference will not be noticeable to the average user, since you cannot distinguish between the versions of the working environments and the system kernel by eye. The versions of the programs themselves that are already installed or available for installation will be exactly the same. Linux Mint 19 Xfce: system requirements

I would like to note right away that although the documentation provides some minimum system requirements, they are so underestimated that I would not recommend that you install this distribution on a machine with a similar configuration. I assure you you will not get pleasure from this

• RAM - 512 MB (I recommend at least 2 GB)
• 9 GB HDD or SSD (I recommend allocating at least 20 GB for the root partition)
• Any compatible monitor with a resolution of at least 1024×768 (this is a matter of wealth and taste)

Let me immediately note that resource consumption in XFCE is lower compared to other shells presented here. It is certainly not particularly modern or beautiful, but it is lightweight and reliable.
