Why YouTube doesn't work in Yandex browser
Videos on YouTube in the Yandex browser may not be played for a number of reasons. It is worth identifying them in order to know what to do if YouTube does not open. Here are the main ones:
- service failures;
- incorrect connection or lack thereof due to the fault of the provider;
- low connection speed;
- cache full;
- stored cookies;
- the computer is infected with viruses;
- hosts file is broken.
Before you start looking for the reason why YouTube does not open in the browser, you need to make sure that the service is working properly. It is possible that the browser is functioning and YouTube is not loading due to restoration work on the site itself.
Method 1: Revert to the old version through the user menu item
The new design offers a changed layout of elements while watching a video, as well as a fairly enlarged font and a free arrangement of individual interface fragments. But if it doesn't suit you, you can turn it off. To return the old design, you need to go to the site and log in with your Google account.
Then you should click on the icon with your photo in the upper right corner to extract the menu. Here you will find the option “Return to classic design”. Click on this item.
A window will appear asking why you decided to revert to the old version. This is a short survey that will allow Google to gather some information and perhaps improve the new experience to make it more relevant to most users. Select one of the available reasons by highlighting it in the list.
After selecting an answer, a window will appear in which you can (additionally) provide details about what you are not happy with in the new design. This is optional, so if you don't want to enter anything, leave the field blank.
After clicking on the “Submit” button, the page will be refreshed and the old youtube interface will be restored. That's all - in this way, you can return the previous version of YouTube. If in the future you want to change again to the latest version, then to do this, go to the section with the new design, and then click on the try button. The page will refresh and you will see the new YouTube design again.
YouTube service disruption
In some situations, problems with YouTube in the Yandex browser are caused by technical failures and recovery operations. This looks different: the player does not appear, the page loading speed is low, YouTube does not show the video, only a black screen appears, etc.

To solve the problem you should:
- Open your browser’s “Settings” and go to the “Show advanced settings” tab.
- Use the “Clear history” function.

- Next to “Delete records”, set the period to “All time”.
- Check the box next to “Files saved in cache”.
- Complete the actions by clicking “Clear history”.
After completing these steps, the browser must be restarted for the changes to take effect. Then you need to try playing the video on YouTube again. If the problem is resolved, then in order to avoid it, you should regularly clear the cache of outdated data.
Old YouTube design on a smartphone

The first will return you to the old design, and the second will return you to the creative studio, but again in the old design. I think that soon the first button will not exist, and when we click on the second, we will get to completely different views. This is still a trial version, not final, because when you change back from the new design to the old one through the menu hidden behind the Avatar, you will be asked to answer several questions regarding the new product.
Blog owners will also experience some minor changes. In principle, receiving a code for your video is no different from this operation in the old design, only there are differences in the visual perception of the entire process.

- Google specialists are in no hurry to worry about their direct competitors from Mocrosoft. Therefore, there is no YouTube update for Internet Explorer yet. The popular YouTube Revert plugin allows you to benefit from this state of affairs.

For example, my new design appeared back in October, apparently in test mode, then it disappeared for a couple of weeks, and now it has appeared again.
The essence of updating the appearance of the YouTube main page is that the video icons (previews) have become larger. If previously 5-6 videos fit in a line, now there are only four.
Viewing the feed of updates and recommendations has become extremely inconvenient. This is partly due to the large icons, partly because recommended videos are no longer shown by category in separate rows, as was previously the case, but in a grid that spans the entire page.
The vast majority of users who have already appreciated the innovation speak sharply negatively about the new YouTube design. Thus, in the comments to the news, out of almost 4 thousand messages, there are hardly a couple of dozen satisfied with the new design:
One gets the complete feeling that the developers, in principle, are not interested in the opinions of users - they have some kind of their own vision, which they seek to impose on everyone else. Why not, for example, make it possible to alternatively select the same size of video icons: if you want, leave the large size as it is now, if you want it as before, switch to the view that is familiar to you.
But no... To return the old design, you have to resort to tricks and tricks. I will give you four working methods at once - choose any one you like.
Method 1 - the easiest
To make the video icons on the YouTube home page smaller, change the page scale in the browser. To do this, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and scroll the mouse wheel down.
Yes, the rest of the page elements will also become smaller, but the feed will take on a more familiar and pleasing appearance to the eye.
Method 2 - unreliable
I’ll warn you right away: this method works for some users, for others it doesn’t, for others it works for a while, but then everything returns to how it was.
Click on the YouTube profile icon and select “Creative Studio” in the menu that opens.
On the left side of the screen at the very bottom, left-click on the “Classic version” item. After this, a window opens asking you to indicate why you want to return to the classic Youtube design when it’s already 2020 
You can choose any answer option, or you can just click the “Skip” button. After this, the design will return not to what it was before the update, but to what it was about 5-10 years ago, that is, it will become completely classic.
Attention! After reloading the main page for a number of users, the appearance again returns to the unsightly version of the end of 2020.
Method 3 - difficult
I’ll show you using the Google Chrome browser as an example, but similar tools are available in other browsers. So, being on the main page of YouTube, press the key combination Crtl+Shift+I. In the window that opens, select “Console”. Where the cursor blinks, paste the code:

At this point in time, this method is the most reliable, it works for everyone and gives 100% results. However, those who are not very computer friendly may be scared off by its complexity.
If after some time you still decide to switch to a new design, open “Console” in the same way, but insert a different code:

Method 4 – optimal
From the Google Chrome app store, install the “Classic Youtube” extension.
The extension icon will appear to the right of the browser's address bar. The inscription NEW on it means that a new design is currently activated, OLD means the old one. Switching between them is done on the fly by clicking the left mouse button on the icon, which is a big advantage of this method over others. This is what I recommend for use as it is the most convenient.
Changed hosts file
If during the scan malicious objects were detected and removed, but the Yandex browser still does not work on the computer, you should refer to the hosts file. During their work, viruses can change it, thereby blocking access to a number of resources.
You need to open the path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
On the hosts file, right-click in the menu and select open.
Then in the program selection window you need to o and click the “Ok” button.
After opening, you need to find the lines # 127.0.0.1 localhost and # ::1 localhost and erase the entries after them.

Why do they need this?
Most of those who post videos on YouTube do it for money and fame. Views, likes, subscriptions are indicators of the success of the channel. And a successful channel attracts advertisers.
The most common tool for making money is built-in advertising from Google. But this is not the only source of income. For example, let's players earn money mainly through donate. Others place advertisements within the video itself.
For example, in the middle of the video, the blogger begins to advertise some service or gadget.
However, not all bloggers use video hosting only to make money. For some, a channel can be an image project: an opportunity to promote their name, draw attention to a certain problem.
Problem from the provider
To more accurately determine the speed, you need to take measurements several times. It's also worth checking your ping. Let me remind you that ping is called checking the quality of an Internet channel. Its normal value can range from 10 to 20 ms, the maximum acceptable threshold is 30 ms.
To measure the ping value we need the command line. We open it as follows:
- Press W+R to open the Run window.
- Type cmd and press “Enter”. A black command line window opens in front of us. Next, enter the command “ping” followed by a space and the ip of your computer, then press “Enter”.
Note! To see the IP address of your computer, you need to follow the following path: Start - Control Panel (small icons) - “Network and Sharing Center” - “View active networks” - window for connecting your computer “Wireless network connection” . In the window that opens, click on the “Details” and find the IP address of your connection.
Once you determine that the video is indeed not playing due to low speed or high ping, you should contact your service provider.
In some cases, YouTube may be blocked in a Yandex browser or other web browser at the provider level. To verify this, you need to launch any VPN, after which the service will load immediately. To get around this problem, you should install special extensions for the Yandex browser, for example, friGate or Hola. They are located in the menu in the “Add-ons” tab of Yandex Browser.

Resetting the DNS cache
It is necessary to reset the DNS cache because it may contain incorrect DNS addresses. They also cause YouTube to not work.
You need to launch the “Run” function by pressing Win + R and enter “cmd” to open the command line. In the console window, type “ipconfig/flushdns” and confirm the action by pressing “Enter”.
With this action, you can clear the contents of the DNS name resolution service cache and restore YouTube functionality.
PC hardware can't handle the load
If YouTube does not work, a white screen appears, and the video does not start, this may indicate a lack of device power. The following are responsible for the correct operation of video hosting:
- RAM: If there is insufficient RAM, the PC may freeze or “page is not responding” messages, etc. may appear.
- Processor: The fact that this device is weak is evidenced by a long wait for the simplest actions to be performed.
- Video card: responsible for the graphics, if it is weak, the video freezes or stops during playback.
- Insufficient hard disk space. For the OS to work without interruptions, there must be at least 10-20 GB of free space on the hard drive.
- You can determine that the computer does not have enough power by the increase in noise from the fan; its rotation speed increases when the device overheats.
How to launch YouTube in Yandex Browser on a weak computer
If the malfunction occurs due to low power of the device, there are several ways to solve the problem.
- Reduce video quality using special applications, for example, Magic Actions for YouTube.
- Using the task manager, disable all resource-intensive applications, such as antiviruses.
- Free up space on your hard drive (empty the Recycle Bin, remove unused programs, etc.). CCleaner will do an excellent job with this task.
- Improve the performance of the graphics card (“overclock”, replace the built-in video card with a discrete one).
- If your old PC has Windows 10 installed, it is better to change it to Windows 7.
