Design

As expected, the appearance of the LG V35 ThinQ is the same as the V30 and V30S, apart from the inscription on the back. With such frequent releases of smartphones, changes in appearance cannot be expected and it cannot be said that they were needed. The LG V35 looks light, sleek and solid, and at the same time it does not have a notch on the screen.

There are black and gray color options. This is not as much as on the LG G7, but for an intermediate device it will do. The device meets all the requirements for the appearance of modern smartphones.

LG V35 ThinQ: full technical specifications and presentation date

Android 05/04/2018 | 0

Back in April of this year, insider Evan Blass reported that the LG G7 ThinQ and LG V35 ThinQ smartphones would be presented to the public at about the same time. Since the first was announced a few days ago, the second should be presented in the coming days. However, an official representative of the cellular operator AT&T denied these data and said that another flagship from this manufacturer will hit store shelves in the summer, but not in May.

The new LG V35 ThinQ will be another top-level flagship smartphone, but it will receive more advanced technical specifications. The future new product is credited with an OLED matrix, a wide-angle front camera with a 107-degree viewing angle, as well as a dual main camera with 16 megapixel resolution, which will allow you to use 2x zoom and portrait mode.

Otherwise, as is already known, the LG V35 ThinQ will boast a 6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2880 by 1440 pixels (QHD+), Corning Gorilla Glass 5, an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with a clock frequency of 2.8 GHz, Adreno 630 graphics, 6 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 128/256 GB of permanent (UFS 2.1) flash memory, as well as a 3300 mAh battery compatible with the Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging function.

It will not do without additional modules, including 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, A-GPS, GLONASS, GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz). The phone body will be made of glass and metal, and it will also boast protection from water and dust according to the IP68 standard, and the smartphone itself will be certified to the military standard MIL-STD 810G. One of the main features of the new product will be a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC amplifier.

Buyers of the LG V35 ThinQ will be able to count on the usual 3.5 mm jack that allows you to connect headphones, as well as support for wireless charging using the Qi standard. Right out of the box, the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with LG UX graphical shell will be installed on the phone. Buyers will be able to buy this smartphone in black and gray colors, and its presentation is scheduled for August 10 (in the USA). In other regions, the new product may appear earlier.

Screen

The LG V355 offers a gorgeous 6-inch screen that produces rich, accurate colors with high clarity. The resolution is 2880 x 1440. The HDR10 standard is supported and the colors are slightly warmer compared to the LG V30. This eliminates the tendency of OLED screens to have a cool color spectrum. There are also excellent viewing angles.

Whether it's bright during the day or dark at night, you can look at this screen without any problems. The maximum brightness is 537 nits, the minimum is 4 nits, and the contrast is also excellent.

Interface and functionality

LG loves to make changes to Android, not only for the sake of beauty, but also for the sake of efficiency. This happened this time in Android 8.0. Quite modest colors and rounded corners of the icons are used. The appearance of the system remains stylish and does not look cartoonish, like some other smartphones.

The functionality shouldn't disappoint either. A swipe to the left on the home screen opens the Google news feed, and swipe up to launch a list of installed applications. A downward gesture makes it possible to search for information on the device and list recently opened applications. All these actions are quickly remembered and quite convenient.

In the settings you can enable Always On Display and the floating panel, which bring additional functionality. The panel contains quick access to applications, contacts, audio playback, and you can create calendar events. All this is done with one click on the arrow.

Settings contains a new extensions menu, where you can find a floating panel and contextual interaction. Here you can force Wi-Fi to turn off when you leave the house, or launch a certain program when you connect headphones. Quick Actions will allow you to launch the camera from the lock screen by double-tapping the volume control down. The screen can be turned on and off by tapping it twice. This is especially convenient for a smartphone with a large screen.

Search allows you to find not only functions in the settings, but also descriptions for them. This makes it possible to quickly become familiar with the device. LG doesn't have a Related Settings section like Samsung does, which means you have to be precise in your searches.

The LG V30S has slightly updated specifications compared to the LG V30. The new smartphone has been updated compared to the LG V30S. Instead of last year's Snapdragon 835, the modern Snapdragon 845 is used. Along with 6 GB of RAM, this provides the maximum performance at the moment.

Applications launch instantly, and transitions between different screens in the operating system are fast and smooth. Heavy loads like games, GPS navigation, videos do not strain this smartphone too much.

The storage capacity is 64 GB, you can install a microSD memory card.

The Lji V-series model has top-end characteristics. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 845 chipset and is equipped with (Ram) 6Gb of RAM. The buyer can choose the amount of built-in memory - 64Gb/128Gb. The 6″ frameless screen has an aspect ratio of 18:9. Smart is endowed with significant protective properties - IP68. The rear camera is a dual 16 MP module, the front one is 8 MP. Android 8.0 is selected as the operating system. The 3300 mAh battery lasts for one and a half days of use.

Over 80% of phone breakdowns are caused by mechanical stress. When struck, the first thing that is damaged is the screen and body of the device. Urgently rush to the service if after a fall the sensor does not work, the glass breaks or interference appears in the image. Spots and streaks on the screen indicate damage to the matrix. It is impossible to repair the matrix; the LG V35 ThinQ display module will need to be replaced.

Mechanical damage or liquid ingress on the device leads to problems with functional connectors (power port, audio jack), buttons. To resolve the problem, the service center engineers will clean the affected parts and restore damaged contacts. In case of significant damage, we will install a new spare part.

As soon as the cell phone reaches the workshop, technicians carry out diagnostics. We will inform the customer of the results of the study (necessary procedures, how much the work costs, deadlines) over the telephone. If the client is satisfied with the conditions, we will begin implementation.

To fully restore the device, original components are used. We purchase spare parts from official Elgie dealers at the lowest prices. This allows you to reduce the cost of repairs.

Cameras

Once again, LG offers a dual camera setup. The main one has standard lenses, the second one has wide-angle lenses. In both cases, the resolution is 16 megapixels, while the previous two LG V30 and V30S had a combination of 16 and 13 megapixels.

The photographs are impressive. Colors are most often very accurate, but sometimes there is a lack of contrast when compared to other flagship smartphones. Despite this, you will get nice, highly detailed images. The exposure separates bright and dark areas well, although the brightest areas can be overexposed.

The main artificial intelligence capabilities of this smartphone are concentrated in the camera. True, its influence on the quality of photographs is questionable. If you click on the button in the application interface, the camera will try to recognize objects in the frame. After this, changes are made to color and exposure.

When a scene is recognized, the smartphone automatically tries to process the image so that the quality is as high as possible. The results are not the most realistic, but can be good. With three additional lighting effects, you change the look and feel of your photos. The effects can be called artistic; not everyone needs them.

It can be said that photos without artificial intelligence, with automatic HDR mode, produce accurate colors and better composition. There is a manual shooting mode, where there is integration with the Graphy application for making changes in real time. Here you can change ISO, shutter speed, white balance, etc. The meanings are taken from photographs of other people in certain situations. This is also intended to improve the quality of pictures. However, even here a simple automatic shooting mode is sufficient. The average user will not be able to see the results of all these sophisticated algorithms.

The second camera takes wide-angle photos with quality no worse than the main sensor. Naturally, in low light the quality drops.

Selfies look great on the LG V35 ThinQ. The exposure is not ideal, but the detail at 8 megapixel resolution ensures good image quality. Beauty modes smooth the skin and eliminate various imperfections on it. Portrait mode also produces good results, even if there is no second camera. The background is well separated from the subject in front, even in difficult situations with dynamic lighting.

    Video

The LG V30 was known for its video quality. There are no problems with this either, which is facilitated by optical and electronic image stabilization. They manifest themselves when moving and enlarging the image. The colors are more vibrant than we would like, but not so much as to deem the video unusable.

As with photos, videos give users a lot of room for creativity. In addition to manual settings, there is a Cine Video mode. It offers a number of filters that change the appearance of the image. There may be filters like in a horror movie, faded and scary, romantic, black and white, etc. This adds to the feeling of a professional shoot.

There is also a Point and Zoom function that allows you to click on an area of the screen and enlarge the image in that area. You can change the sound balance on the left and right. All this provides video recording with an unprecedented range of capabilities.
