Google Photos
Chances are you already have Google Photos on your Android smartphone, and if you do have, you certainly have the smartest and most advanced Gallery app out there. The official Gallery app for Android comes with features like visual search, which allows you to search for photos with items associated with them.
You can type something to search or even enter an emoji to search for a picture. It also allows you to create cool albums, collages, animations and movies. Additionally, the app automatically categorizes images based on location, common things, and people.
Google Photos also lets you store high-quality images in Google Drive, so there's that. I also like the new sharing feature in Google Photos, which allows users to share photos securely. Then there are built-in basic photo editing features that allow users to quickly edit their photos. Overall, there's a lot to like here and I think it's one of the best, if not the best Android gallery apps you can use.

Focus - Picture Gallery
One of the most functionally developed applications for viewing images on mobile devices. In one click, the user gets access to assigning tags, adding titles for albums, transferring a single photo to a private storage, printing or to the cloud.
On the main screen of the utility, absolutely all images in the phone’s memory and on the SD card are sorted into specific folders. For example, a GIF will never be in the same album as a video. Each album can be protected with a password or fingerprint. There is no built-in photo editor in the gallery, so you will have to limit yourself to only the cropping and scaling functions.
It is worth noting that all the variety of functions is available only in the paid version. True, its cost is not particularly high - only 119 rubles.
How Focus - Picture Gallery works on an Android smartphone, see here:
Photos Simple Gallery Pro
After Google Photos, Simple Gallery Pro is my pick for the best gallery app on Android. As the name suggests, it is a simple and neat app with all the popular features rolled into one.
If you remember QuickPic from its heyday, it's strikingly similar to this, but without the ads or bloatware. You can organize your albums, protect and hide photos, recover deleted files, and much more.
Apart from this, the app also has some great tools including cropping, rotating, filters, resizing and more.
You can also view different types of photos and videos such as RAW, SVG, panoramic images, GIF, etc.
Overall, this is a great and simple app that is worth the extra money. If you want a free version of this app, it is available on the Play Store but is no longer in development. Either way, if you want a lightweight Gallery app, then you should get Simple Gallery Pro.

Memoria
Memoria is another great gallery app on Android that you should try. It is filled with interesting features and the user interface is quite good.
For comparison, this is similar to your Instagram dashboard. Photos are organized in both album and photo view in separate tabs, so you can easily find what you're looking for.
The best part of this app is that it supports gestures to extract details, rotate images, and hide photos.
There is also hidden storage in case you want to protect your photos and albums. Having said that, what I like about Memoria is its design and overall UI experience.
It follows the Material Theme principle and also supports true AMOLED black for users who love dark mode. To sum it up, Memoria is a great example of an application that has both form and function.
And in case you need more features, you can get the Pro version of the app.

Focus Go
Focus Go is the new Gallery app from Francisco Franco, who developed the popular Focus app.
Now he is no longer developing the old gallery app and is instead bringing new and exciting changes to Focus Go. In my testing , the best gallery app on Android seemed to come with a map-like interface.
The principle behind Focus Go is simple: provide a large canvas for viewing photos with only the details you need.
It's not overloaded with countless features, but it offers photos in chronological order and loads different types of images instantly. So the bottom line is that if you liked Focus from the earlier days, the new Focus Go app will make it even better.

Focus
If you're looking for an app with the simplest possible interface, Focus is for you. It allows you to quickly tag pictures with symbol tags available on the sidebar.
The program always selects the correct image orientation and appropriate brightness. Recent items are displayed at the top of the Home screen.
The $2+ Pro version comes with a dark theme, custom collections, and secure file storage. There you can also pin one photo on the screen so that the person you gave the phone to cannot scroll through it.

Gallery
Gallery, as it is aptly called, is a well-designed Gallery application for Android smartphones.
A distinctive feature of this application, in addition to its simplicity and ease of use, is that it is absolutely ad-free.
It's just great, right? It doesn't use network data for what it costs, and there's no cloud integration in the app. The developer tried to create a standalone gallery app that just works.
With that said, you still get advanced features like face and scene recognition similar to Google Photos; story-like feature called happy moments and more.
I would say that Gallery is one of my favorites because of its neat user interface and lack of advertising philosophy. You should definitely check out this gallery app.

Pictures
Piktures may not be as popular as others on the list, but it definitely has one of the most intuitive interfaces of the bunch.
The app includes a number of intuitive gestures to make navigation easy. Albums are available on the left edge, and filters/tags are available on the right edge.
The app also includes a cool calendar view and a location view that shows images inside the calendar and images taken in different locations, respectively.
Along with a beautiful interface, it has a PIN-protected secure drive where you can save your personal photos and videos. Other features of the app include GIF and video support, the ability to view EXIF data, slideshows, etc.

QuickPic
A good gallery with rich functionality. The main advantages of the program include high speed, as well as convenience and simplicity. The software also boasts additional options, which include support for slide shows and the ability to edit photos.
The program can intelligently group and sort images. There is also support for popular cloud services. In addition, the application can transfer photos via Wi-Fi and allows you to play animation and video.
Please note that the program is completely free and does not contain built-in advertising.
F-Stop
If you want a Gallery app that is lightning fast, you should check out the F-Stop Media Gallery app.
Apart from a quick experience, the Gallery app offers various features such as tags, themes for the app, the ability to read metadata (EXIF, XMP, IPTC) directly from an image, metadata-based search.
GIF support, password-protected photo and video lock, slideshow mode with various transitions to choose from, and much more. It also includes a cool Google Maps based location mode where you will find photos based on the location on the map.
While the above-mentioned features in the app are free, there is a Pro version that gives you the ability to save tags and ratings in XMP format along with features like drag-and-drop support, subfolders, and more.

Feature Set
The program is intended for users who lack standard Gallery functions on the Android system.
The Simple Gallery app has convenient settings and features. Sorting files into directories and the ability to edit images are among the main features. Photos can be sorted according to several parameters: by volume, alphabetically, by date added. The program automatically shows columns based on the screen size of the mobile device. These parameters can be changed. By increasing the icon size, the number of columns will decrease. You can also make the icons smaller and add an additional column. All files have the function of viewing, deleting, copying and moving. In this case, you do not need to go to Explorer. Standard solutions do not have such a function. In the Gallery app, you can rotate and crop photos. Files can be rotated and quickly set as a screen saver. The highlight of this application is the ability to block viewing of a specific photo or an entire folder of files.
Camera Roll
Camera Roll is a simple and intuitive gallery app that became quite popular after QuickPic was removed from the Play Store.
It has a simple interface that organizes your photos and albums in chronological order . The focus is always on finding new media, and I like that.
It also supports a range of file formats, including PNG, RAW and GIF. Plus, you can view the EXIF data of photos, which is great; create virtual albums without having to create a new folder; hide photos in storage and much more. All these features make Camera Roll one of the best Android gallery apps.
However, keep in mind that the Camera Roll app is not currently under active development, so you may not get the latest features. That being said, it's still one of the best out there.

A+Gallery
A+ Gallery is one of the most popular gallery apps on the Play Store, and it looks great. It comes with many features including viewing, editing, syncing and more.
In a sense, it is a complete app in itself, where you can view your photos, edit them, and also sync them to any cloud service of your choice. Additionally, the app is quite simple when you first launch it, but you can also customize it with the many themes available. Also, what I like about this gallery app is that it has a great search engine like Google Photos.
You can search photos or videos by date, location, and even the color of the image, which is amazing.
So, if you want a full-featured Gallery app on Android, try A+ Gallery. The only downside is that it shows ads in the main UI, but you can remove them using in-app purchases.

Gallery Go
If your smartphone is quite old, may I suggest a better alternative than Google Photos? So, Gallery Go is a stripped-down version of Google Photos, created by Google for lower-end devices.
It supports Google Photos backup and you will get all your photos and albums in separate tabs, but in a thin and light package.
However, you can also use it on any smartphone if you want a simple gallery app that downloads your photos instantly. Not to mention, Gallery Go also has dark mode, editing, and auto-organization features. Simply put, if you're looking for a gallery app without the bells and whistles but with the basics, Gallery Go is the best app on this list.

How to update gallery in Android
Many users who have recently purchased an Android device probably know what a gallery is in the operating system. All media information (photos and videos) stored on the phone is located and displayed here. In addition, there are documents here that many users chose to delete from the gallery.
Let’s say you don’t want to see pictures of music albums or other images downloaded from the Internet on your smartphone. Initially, they are displayed in one place along with the necessary content. In this situation, the question arises: how to update the gallery in Android? This task is easily solvable, since owners of mobile gadgets are annoyed by the presence of unnecessary information on their smartphone. Experienced users know how to update the gallery in Android by removing unnecessary documents from it. In this article, we will tell you how to update the gallery in Android in a fairly simple way by deleting files from specific directories.
You probably know that the Android operating system has a function that scans the internal disk space of the device, as well as all memory cards, checking for new information. In those folders where you do not want to see unnecessary files, you need to create a new document and name it nomedia. As a result, such directories will be skipped when scanning the Gallery. You can perform this action using any file manager. For example, Total Commander. But you can make the task run automatically. You need to download an Android application called Gallery Excluder.
After installing the software, launch the program. All folders that are on your tablet device will be displayed in front of you. In order to delete unnecessary directories, you need to select in the list of folders those that you want to eliminate, and then the utility itself will create documents with the name nomedia in each selected directory.
The program settings menu for Android is intuitive. You can update the gallery, go to the required directory, select files, uncheck them, etc. You can also install a theme for Android - in white or dark colors.
You can see in practice that there is nothing complicated here. But remember, other third-party applications installed on an Android phone will be able to see all directories on the device, regardless of the presence of a nomedia file in them.
