What kind of program is this, what is it for?
This program is designed to recognize and convert copies of paper documents into their electronic versions . Simply put a piece of paper with text or an image into the scanner and in a few seconds you will receive the finished result in a text editor.
One of the advantages of cuneiform is its font independence. The system uses self-learning technology based on adaptive character recognition. That is, the program “knows” the rules for writing letters and requires any standards or special training. It does not recognize only handwritten text and stylized text (for example, Gothic font).
We invite you to watch a video about the CuneiForm program:
Features and benefits
- Excellent text recognition quality.
- High speed.
- Using unique techniques for text recognition (neural networks, adaptive recognition, finding alternative options).
- Accessible and intuitive interface.
- A large number of additional features.
- Recognition of a mixture of English and Russian languages.
If there are tables, the program can handle them, and the built-in editor supports different types of tables, including those without linear graphics.

from other programs of this class with the highest level of recognition, especially for low-quality texts; user-friendly interface with built-in wizards to help you with your work; a powerful built-in text editor that is not inferior in functionality to popular word processors and many other interesting features.
Cognitive Technologies Company,
created in 1993 on the basis of the artificial intelligence laboratory of the Institute of System Analysis of the Russian Academy of Sciences, combines advanced technologies and the results of many years of research and development of domestic scientists and programmers in the CuneiForm system. Thanks to this, CuneiForm has become one of the most popular recognition systems in the world. In Russia, CuneiForm has always set standards and new development directions for other OCR systems.
About the advantages of the CuneiForm system
says the fact that the world's leading manufacturers supply their products with this program. The most popular scanners and multifunctional devices in Russia Canon, Hewlett-Packard, OKI, Seiko Epson, Olivetti, Xerox are sold complete with the CuneiForm program.
Manufacturers of popular software
also licensed Russian information technology for use with their products. The popular software packages Corel Draw (Corel Corporation), FaxLine/OCR & Business Card Wizard (Inzer Corporation) and many others have the CuneiForm OCR library built into them.
The CuneiForm system has been repeatedly recognized
best in testing, including at the Russian Academy of Sciences, received the title of Editor Choice of PC Expert magazine, and also became the first OCR system in Russia to receive the MS Windows Compatible Logo.

- It is recommended to check the “Vocabulary control” function, this improves the quality of recognition.
- Select "Single Column" if the text is presented in a single column.
- Check the "Dot Matrix Printer" box if the image quality is low.
- If there are tables, then select “search for tables”.
- If the text is diluted with pictures, then click on “search for pictures”.
- “Save the location of objects” - all elements located on the sheet will remain in their current position during recognition.
- You can save a document in different formats: leave it for editing, save it to disk, or export it.
- If there are many errors in the text, then it is more convenient to use manual editing.
Essentially, the CuneiForm program is a collection of applications that have long been used for optical recognition of texts and images. But this software has enough positive aspects.
