4 ways to solve the problem of slow Internet on your computer

All of Russia is rapidly getting used to freelance life. Going out, communicating with others, using public transport becomes taboo. It may be for the better.

But we have to work. No matter where you plan to sit out the epidemic, life goes on. Especially if you are responsible for a large information site. For example, iPhones.ru.

We recently wrote about how we are adapting to self-isolation. As a result, we decided to upgrade our workflow to new realities. So that there are no more “my reception is bad”, “the Internet at home is slow” and other realities of remote work.

Jokes aside, home Internet has already begun to slow down throughout Russia. So think about what will happen when the weekend comes.

That's why Mikk and I took an LTE router . So as not to disappear anywhere, be it in Moscow at home or in the park, or in Voronezh in the Birch Grove.

Impressions follow.

I work in a park in Voronezh as long as possible

I can no longer work from home. Some days the first thing I do is go out, lay out the equipment on the table in the shade and enjoy the spring. Viruses are viruses, but you can breathe. Especially after Moscow.

I take with me a Yota wireless router, which supports LTE Internet distribution to 8 devices simultaneously. I don’t need that much, the main thing is that there is enough Wi-Fi for the iPad Pro, iPhone and MacBook.

6 hours of battery life is enough, plus you can connect it with a wire to your laptop via micro-USB and continue further. The thing is very small, light, any portable battery is even heavier.

I'm glad that now you don't have to drain your iPhone or iPad's batteries in mobile hotspot mode.

Well, and most importantly: Yota’s speeds are traditionally excellent. I’ve seen different ones: sometimes up to 100 Mbit/sec , but on average at least 20 Mbit/sec for downloading and uploading.

At this speed I work at full capacity. You can download videos, upload heavy photos to the cloud, update applications. I think you can even play with toys, but I haven’t tried it yet.

It is important that even in the park I retain access to the computer that remains in the office. I have a huge dump of documents, photos, and working materials there. I connect to it through the Splashtop Desktop application. You can download it here, but there are alternatives, including the completely free TeamViewer.
