"Google Translate"
Google is one of the world leaders in natural language processing.
Its translator supports 103 languages - an absolute record among similar programs. The application works with most languages without an Internet connection. It's also perfectly integrated with Android: thanks to a dedicated widget, you can quickly translate highlighted words in most other apps without leaving them. The program translates not only the text printed in it, but also inscriptions photographed or drawn on the screen. Moreover, you can simply dictate a few phrases to the application - it will recognize the words and translate them.
For convenience, Google Translate displays the history of past translations. Any of them can be saved in a special list so as not to be lost.

What types of online dictionaries are there?
Before moving on to the review, it is necessary to clarify that online dictionaries come in different types. In general, the classification of dictionaries is a rather complicated thing; the matter is not limited only to explanatory and bilingual ones, but in our case we will talk about these two categories.
- Bilingual dictionaries (bilingual) are the usual dictionaries with a foreign word on the left and a translation into Russian on the right or vice versa. English words are often voiced. There are usually several translations, they are provided with comments and examples. When talking about paper dictionaries, they are usually distinguished by direction, for example, English-Russian (from English into Russian) and Russian-English (vice versa), but in the case of online dictionaries there is no such division, because they all allow you to freely switch between directions. Many online dictionaries have a large database of several languages, so it would be more correct to call them multilingual .
- Explanatory dictionaries of the English language (English-English, monolingual) are dictionaries in which an English word is explained in English. In addition to the meanings of the word, examples from speech and voice acting are usually given.
There is an opinion that when learning English, it is better to use an English-English dictionary, because by reading such a dictionary, you better understand the meanings of words and become immersed in the language.
I think this is useful for those who work professionally with language (translators, linguistic scientists), but for students, especially beginners, it is not necessary, it just distracts attention once again. Why does a student look in the dictionary? To quickly find a word's meaning, pronunciation and example. A bilingual dictionary is quite suitable for this.
Download Reword
The archive contains the Reword program itself and Ozhegov’s dictionary. All other dictionaries (more than 40) can be installed directly from the program if you have the Internet. If this option does not suit you, then you can manually download and install all dictionaries from the same page.
Installation
Reword is a portable application, so you just need to unzip the zip file you downloaded onto any media (whether it’s a hard drive, be it a flash drive) and “run” the reword_5_5.exe file. At the same time, the program does not make any entries in the registry* or outside its working folder, so the application can be copied and transferred as desired without the risk of making it inoperable.
* the application creates an entry in the system registry only if you have enabled reword autoloading in the program settings
Download everything separately
You can assemble the required dictionary configuration yourself. To do this, first download the base package, unzip it on your hard drive, then download the archives of the dictionaries you need, unzip them and copy them to the dictionaries folder of the base package.

How to Set Up and Use a Custom Android Dictionary
How to set up and use a custom Android dictionary . The Android operating system has a convenient spell checking system that can not only suggest the correct spelling of words, but also automatically correct typos. This autocorrection system can be made even more useful with the help of special user dictionaries. In this article you will learn how to use them correctly, including not only for spell checking. First of all, you need to make sure that the spell check feature is activated in your device settings. To do this, open the “Language and Input” section in Android settings and check the “Spell Check” option. Nearby there is a settings button, with which you can go to the language selection menu for which the text will be checked and corrected.
After checking that the autocorrection and dictionary settings are correct, you can open any text editor and try it out. As you enter text, a suggested correct version of the word you type will appear above the keyboard. You can speed up typing a long word by simply clicking on the correct option in the line above.
Very often there are situations when the built-in dictionary does not know the word you are entering and underlines it even though you are absolutely sure that it is correct. It is precisely for solving such problems that a user dictionary is intended. Adding a word to it is very simple: just click on the highlighted word in the line above the keyboard keys and a proposal will appear to add this word to the user’s dictionary. The same can be done by tapping on the underlined word in the already typed text.
To manage and manually fill the user dictionary, you should open the already familiar “Language and input” section in the Android settings and follow the “Custom dictionaries” link. Here you can see dictionaries for each language used, as well as one general one. By opening any of them, the user has the opportunity to view, delete or add the necessary entries.
To add a new entry, click on the plus sign in the upper right corner and fill out the required fields. In this case, as you can see in the screenshot, you can enter not only individual words, but also entire phrases and alphanumeric combinations. Thanks to this ability, it is quite possible to use a custom dictionary in several unusual roles.
Filling out forms. Count how many times you had to enter your mailing address and other personal information when registering. Add this data to your personal dictionary and you will be able to fill in the required fields with just a few characters.
Password manager. Many people complain about the lack of a simple and convenient password manager in Android, like LastPass on desktops. Spend half an hour entering passwords for the services you use into the user dictionary and get the ability to quickly enter them in any browser. Of course, this should not be done in relation to those services that contain your important financial or personal information; such passwords should be kept only in your head.
Common phrases. If when texting or SMS communication you often use the same phrases or even entire sentences, then add keyboard shortcuts to them. For example, replace “Best wishes, Name” with “snp” and you will save a few seconds each time you type this phrase.
Thus, users have the opportunity to use their dictionaries in Android not only for competent writing, but also for quickly entering their data, passwords, or even entire sentences.
