How to install Root Explorer?

This week, the promise was fulfilled and now the Xiaomi calculator can be used by owners of any Android smartphone. The calculator, by the way, is very good and functional.

But the other day Xiaomi published another standard application on the Play Store - Mi File Explorer. The application has a number of features and functions that are available in analogues only on a paid basis.

The application is divided into three screens: 1 - recent files, 2 - file categories (music, photos, videos, APK, archives, etc.), 3 - the explorer itself. In addition to the standard functions of viewing files, the application has a search for the drive, as well as a function for cleaning up garbage and a visualization of occupied space that is pleasing to the eye. Separately, it is worth mentioning the function of wireless file transfer using the proprietary Mi Drop service and an FTP server.

What are Root rights and why are they needed?

The Superuser authority (one of the varieties of the name root rights) allows you to expand the capabilities of your device. When you purchase a smartphone, by default you have the access level - guest.

You can safely watch videos, listen to audio and edit some documents.

To be able to fix system documents, expand the amount of RAM, or permanently disable the loading of unnecessary extensions (or completely remove them), you will need to unlock the Superuser.

After activation, each user will be able to independently perform such tasks:

Remove ads from applications.
Get rid of unnecessary files, with deletion protection.
Restore the previous firmware version.

Some time ago, my colleague had already reviewed the file managers available at that time and compiled all his impressions into a final article, in which he briefly talked about each of the ten applications studied. Almost everyone who has ever held a smartphone with the Miui shell in their hands noted not only its excellent performance, but also its polished software.

The same “dialer”, notepad and explorer, many even installed these applications separately from the forums. Now the need for this has completely disappeared, because some applications have appeared on Google Play, like our favorite file manager Mi Explorer.

The Mi Explorer file manager is designed in a minimalist style, its design is dominated by light colors and a minimum number of elements. And all of the above combines perfectly in practice not only with Miui, but also with the “bare” Android operating system.

The main screen of Mi Explorer is designed for recent files, which are sorted by newness. We can immediately see where a particular file was received from and what application it belongs to, and upon closer examination, we can open the file itself and find out the exact date of its creation.

Unfortunately, this file manager does not have a built-in gallery, media player or other applications.

By the way, I really liked how the utility notifies us about new files.

On another home screen, you can view files by individual type and navigate to frequently used folders, such as Downloads, Camera, or Bluetooth.

Instructions for use on tablets and smartphones

Working with Root Explorer on smartphones and tablets is easy:

First you need to install the application.
Find the system/app folder in the device memory.
To delete files you will need to: hold the shortcut for a few seconds until a menu appears and select “Delete”.
Check the box for all required files.

You can download the application from Google Play or from the official website. The apk file must be placed in the /system folder.
