Solving problems with launching Kaspersky Antivirus on Windows 10

Kaspersky antivirus is one of the best paid antivirus programs. But sometimes there are cases when you spend your money, buy a license, install it and at first everything works perfectly, but then after a while Kaspersky stops starting.

You shouldn’t immediately blame the whole world for your problems, curse the antivirus and ask yourself the question: why did I buy it? Perhaps you simply removed it from startup and therefore it stopped automatically loading for you along with your OS. We fix this by simply adding an antivirus to startup. You can use the “msconfig” command and then add your Kaspersky to startup, and then restart the PC.

If the problem is not startup, then most of all your antivirus was attacked by a large number of viruses that damaged files and disabled it. In this case, there is also no need to worry. We try to remove the infection using another, one-time antivirus or some utility (for example, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware). Next, reinstall your Kaspersky. You can also use the official Kaspersky utility to completely remove your antivirus and then reinstall it. All this must be done in safe mode. After reinstallation, at the first start, we run a PC scan and remove all viruses.

What to do if nothing helps?

You need to do some work on your system. We suggest you do this in two stages.

1. Update drivers with Driver Booster 3. This is really cool software that often helps!

Updating old drivers to new ones is a very important point. You might think that Windows itself lets you know when new updates are available.

Yes, sometimes it shows alerts, but mostly only for Windows updates or sometimes also for the video card. But besides this, there are many more drivers that need to be updated regularly.

2. PC repair with Reimage Repair. Run this program to analyze your system for errors (and there will be 100% of them). You will then be asked to cure them, either individually or all at once.

}

One of the most effective antiviruses in our time is considered to be a product from Kaspersky Lab. Precisely because many people use it, questions about its malfunctions arise quite often. The direction of this topic can be very different, but today it is worth dwelling on one of them in detail.

In particular, when the antivirus simply does not start, and this can happen on any operating system. To correctly determine the cause of such an error, you should first fully analyze all your previous actions that could lead to this. The user can fix all these problems on his own, so there is nothing serious about it. So, let's start with the most common one.

Changing the operating system

Now we are not talking about a complete reinstallation, because in this case the antivirus is simply removed. Everything is based on system updates that are regularly offered to Windows users. After all, all licensed copies were asked to switch to the new “ten” with its release, and previously it was possible to get the “eight” in the same way. In some cases, the system even updated itself without asking the user. After launching the updated system, most applications work stably, but Kaspersky is not one of them; it cannot handle such a change in climate. To solve this problem, in this case it is recommended to simply reinstall the program. During a new installation, the antivirus will configure itself to work with the new system correctly; unfortunately, it cannot update along with others.

Recovery

If you use one operating system for a long time, it becomes cluttered over time. Various minor problems can harm the operation of such a gentle antivirus. To eliminate the causes, you should try rolling back the system a few steps back. Moreover, this method can also help if other programs or games fail to launch, so keeping it in your arsenal will not be a bad idea. To perform this procedure in the seventh version, you need to visit the “Start” menu, select “All Programs”, “Standard” and the corresponding recovery partition. Restoring functionality can provide an effective solution in half of the cases of antivirus failure. Of course, if the reason is related to this. Therefore, when it becomes clear that the method did not solve the problem, the antivirus should be reinstalled. You can perform the reinstallation right away, without looking for other methods, because this is the most effective, but, as a rule, it does not provide a complete guarantee.

Incompatibility

This reason lies in the simultaneous use of several antivirus products. In their desire for complete security, some users do not think about how much they are loading the system with this. In addition, not all antiviruses are able to work in parallel; most often, a conflict arises between them. All their resources will be spent fighting a competitor rather than threats to the system, so they should think carefully about this choice. By the way, a similar reaction of the antivirus may occur to other programs. If it stopped working precisely after installing the new software, then you will have to sacrifice something for further work. Either remove the new program or replace the antivirus itself. In the case of several antiviruses, you will have to leave only one so that it can spend its resources exclusively for its intended purpose. To avoid such a problem, you should not install several anti-virus programs on your computer, because each of them consumes a huge amount of RAM and together they will not allow the system to work at full capacity, even if a conflict does not happen, which is very rare. If you really want to get more security, you can install an antispyware, for example SpyHunter, in addition to Kaspersky.

Infection

Oddly enough, this can happen due to the presence of viruses in the system. Some of their upgrades try to first eliminate their fighter, and then calmly walk throughout the entire system. Since the antivirus itself loses its functionality, you should remove it and immediately reinstall the operating system. This is the only way to get rid of malware on your computer. The fact is that if you simply install a new antivirus, it will not provide a full guarantee of detection, and may also be “eaten.”

Other incompatibilities

Let's return to the first point of the update and now consider updating the system to the tenth version in more detail. Here everything is much simpler, or more complicated depending on how you look at it. The fact is that Kaspersky simply cannot work on the new version of the operating system, so in this case even reinstalling it will not help. This system is simply incompatible with Kaspersky Lab antivirus. There is no way to fix this problem until Microsoft releases a patch that solves the problem. This is why many users refuse to use a new operating system in favor of the stable operation of their antivirus, especially if it is paid.

No license

Failure to operate may be due to the installed pirated version. This applies to both the antivirus itself and the operating system. If you install an unlicensed antivirus, you can simply try to reinstall it, but if the problem is in the operating system, everything is much more complicated. It is simply impossible to install a licensed antivirus on a pirated computer; more precisely, it can work for some time, and after stopping it will not start again. You can try using a similar unlicensed version of the antivirus itself, or change your operating system to a licensed one. You can simply install another antivirus. What exactly is suitable for the user is up to him to decide, but all problems with troubleshooting the operation of the antivirus can be solved, and on their own.

If you do not install Kaspersky, the problem may not be with the system. This antivirus is compatible with almost the entire Windows family: it works on 7, 8, 10, Vista and even XP. And computer resources do not affect the download process. How the utility will work depends on them.

The reasons why Kaspersky installation fails can be very different.

Finding out why Kaspersky won't load is not so easy. After all, the reasons for the failure may be different.

You should not install several different antiviruses on your computer. If there are two firewalls in the system, this does not mean that the protection will be twice as good. On the contrary, a large number of such programs will lead to failures, errors and slowdowns. It is better to choose one Antivirus and use only it.

To install Kaspersky on Windows 7, 8 or 10, get rid of other antiviruses. Otherwise they will conflict with each other. You can leave only portable applications (for example, the utility from DrWeb).

  • How to install Kaspersky Lab antivirus for free

If you move Antivirus to the Trash or delete it directly using the Delete key, nothing will work. You must use your own uninstaller utility or built-in Windows tools.

  • Go to “Control Panel”.
  • Open the Uninstall Programs menu (or Programs and Features if you have icon viewing enabled).

  • Find your antivirus in the list that opens.
  • Right-click on it and select “Delete”.
  • Follow the further instructions of the installation/removal wizard.
  • Restart your computer.

Special “cleaners” have been made for some defenders. They not only remove the program, but also erase all traces of it: shortcuts, temporary files, configurations, saved libraries, registry entries. Such uninstallers can be downloaded from the official website of the software development company.

If removing all defenders did not help, and the desired antivirus is still not installed, then the reason is different.

The previous version has not been completely removed

If you incorrectly uninstalled the previous version of Kaspersky, the new one will not install. Let's say you decide to upgrade from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 10 to 15. Or you just want to reinstall the antivirus. Before doing this, it must be completely erased. Not just move it to the trash, but remove all data associated with it.

If you remove Kaspersky using standard Windows tools, files, keys and links may remain from it. Therefore, you need to download the program - the uninstaller.

  • Go to kaspersky.ru website.
  • In the search bar (top right), enter the query “kavremover”.
  • The results will contain links to download the product “Kzip” and “Kavremvr.exe”. The first is the archive with the uninstaller, the second is the uninstaller itself. You can choose any download option.
  • There are also instructions describing how to properly remove the antivirus.
  • If you took the archive, unpack it.
  • Run the executable file.
  • Accept the license agreement.
  • A window with a captcha will appear. If you can't see the symbols, click on the circular arrow button. This is how the picture changes.
  • In the “Products detected” drop-down list, select the version of the antivirus that you want to erase.
  • Click on “Delete”.
  • Once the process is complete, restart your computer.
  • A log in .TXT format will appear in the directory in which the uninstaller is located. It can be opened in notepad.
  • Check if Antivirus is installed.

Why is Kaspersky not installed on the Windows 7/8 operating system?

Kaspersky is one of the best antiviruses in the fight against malware, but sometimes problems arise due to which Kaspersky does not install on the Windows 7 or 8 operating system.

The main reasons leading to the inability to install Kaspersky on Windows 7/8, and ways to solve them

  1. One of these reasons is the presence of another antivirus program already installed. It should be understood that all full-fledged antiviruses, with the exception of some, conflict with each other. Therefore, do not try to install two antivirus programs on the same version of Windows. When uninstalling Kaspersky Lab using standard Windows 7/8 tools (Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs), problems may arise due to which the antivirus is removed or will be partially removed. To completely remove the Laboratory, use the kavremover utility. Download link from the official website: https://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/kavremover.exe
  2. The second reason, which applies only to Windows 8.1, is the inability to install Kaspersky using the old version of the installer. In this case, try downloading a new version of the installer from the official website with an already integrated patch for your version. The fact is that windows 8.1. is somewhat different from previous versions of the operating system, and requires a patch to install Kaspersky correctly.
  3. And, perhaps, the most common and dangerous reason leading to the inability to install an antivirus is control of the system by the SalityNAU virus, which modifies the system host file. It is quite difficult to fight it, since it takes control of the entire system, blocking the installation of any antivirus program, and also prohibiting access to official websites. In some cases, it can block access to the task manager, command line and registry editor, prohibit access to social networks such as VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, etc., do not allow downloading files larger than 2MB, infect exe files, which prevents them from starting.

Ways to deal with SalityNAU in windows 7 (8)

  1. Go to the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Open the properties of the host file and uncheck the “Read Only” option. Then open the file using notepad and delete all the lines, and then reduce it to the following form (only for versions 7 and 8 of windows):
  2. If changing the host file does not help, I advise you to download the Dr.Web CureIt utility, which copes well with the SalityNAU virus and does not conflict with other antivirus programs. Download link: https://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/. The program is not installed on the operating system and is not registered in the registry, so the virus should not notice it. However, I cannot give an exact guarantee of this.
  3. If you were unable to launch Dr.Web CureIt on an infected version of Windows, try launching it using a Live CD. Enter Bios (when booting Windows 7 or 8, press and hold F8) and change the boot order, putting boot from removable media first. Insert the removable media from the Live CD and reboot the system. Using Dr.Web CureIt antivirus or AVZ scanner, try to remove the virus that is blocking the installation of Kaspersky.
  4. If you are running Registry Editor, it is recommended to check 2 parameters. To open the editor, click Start - type Regedit in the search bar - run Regedit.exe (for windows7) or press Winkey + r - type the same phrase in the line - Run (for windows 8). In the editor, go to the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. We are interested in 2 files: shell = explorer.exe; userinit =C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe.

If after all of the above the problem does not disappear, then you will have to reinstall the operating system, dumping important files onto removable media.

Software incompatibility

Kaspersky works with different versions of Windows. But this does not mean that one installer is suitable for both 10 and XP. If you try to download an outdated antivirus on a modern system, nothing will work.

  • To fix the problem, download the latest version of the installer from the official Kaspersky Lab resource.
  • Open the site.
  • Go to the "Home" tab (or "Business" if you're looking for a corporate Antivirus).
  • Select the appropriate product in the left column.
  • There is a "System Requirements" section. It lists the supported operating systems.

It can be made simpler:

  1. Hover over "Download".
  2. Item "Distributions".
  3. Click the desired antivirus.

Kaspersky for older systems can be found on the Internet.

The installer is damaged

If Kaspersky does not install on Windows 7, 8 or 10, there may be a problem with the installer itself (it is damaged or contains errors). This happens if the download of a file is interrupted and it is not completely downloaded. But, most often, unlicensed software is to blame. Paid programs are hacked. Sometimes this is done by inexperienced people. And the result is a non-working EXE file.

There are two ways out:

  • Install the licensed utility. It definitely won't be buggy.
  • Try downloading the hacked application from another source.

Another antivirus installed

You should not install several different antiviruses on your computer. If there are two firewalls in the system, this does not mean that the protection will be twice as good. On the contrary, a large number of such programs will lead to failures, errors and slowdowns. It is better to choose one Antivirus and use only it.

Problems with the .NET Framework

For Kaspersky to work stably on Win 10, 8 and 7, it needs the .NET Framework utility version 4.0 and higher. This program should already be on Windows. But if it functions with errors, you need to update or reinstall it.

  • Go to Microsoft.com.
  • Type "Microsoft .NET Framework" into the search bar.
  • In the "Downloads" section, select the latest version of the utility.
  • Click on the red "Download" button.

Download .NET Framework version 4.0

  • Run the resulting file.
  • Wait for the process to complete.

Check if antivirus is installed. If not, try uninstalling the Framework completely and downloading it again.

Solving the problem with installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus on Windows 7

There are several reasons for the occurrence of the problem in question, each of which requires the user to perform certain manipulations to correct it. Below we will analyze in detail all the popular errors and provide detailed instructions for solving them. Let's start with the simplest method and end with the complex one.

Method 1: Uninstall other antivirus programs

The most common cause of an error when installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus is the presence on the computer of a similar program from another developer. Therefore, you first need to uninstall such software, and only then try to install Kaspersky again. You will find detailed instructions for removing popular antiviruses in our other article at the link below.

Read more: Removing an antivirus

Method 2: Removing residual files

Sometimes users update the program or install it again after uninstalling it. In this case, a conflict may arise due to the presence of residual files on the computer. Therefore, you will need to remove them first. This can be done using the official utility from Kaspersky. Follow the instructions below:

Go to the download page for the Kaspersky residual file removal utility

  1. Go to the utility download page.
  2. Click on the “Download” button and wait for the process to complete.

Launch the software through your browser or the folder where it was saved.

Accept the terms of the license agreement.

You will see the code in the window that opens. Enter it in the special line below.

Select the product you are using, if this did not happen automatically, and click on “Delete”.

Wait for the process to complete, then close the window, restart your PC and restart the Kaspersky Anti-Virus installation.

Method 3: Install or update the .NET Framework

If the installation freezes while working with the Microsoft .NET Framework component, then the problem is related to this particular file library. The solution to the problem is very simple - update the version or download the current version of the component. Find a detailed guide on this topic in our other materials using the links below.

Method 4: Cleaning the system from the SalityNAU virus

If the previous methods did not bring any results, most likely the problem was caused by the SalityNAU virus infecting your computer. It is he who blocks attempts to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus. This software still cannot cope with the above-mentioned threat on its own, so we will provide you with available methods for disinfecting files manually.

First of all, we recommend that you pay attention to the Dr.Web CureIt utility or its other analogues. Such solutions can be easily installed on a PC that is infected with SalytiNAU and effectively deal with this threat. Read about how to clean your computer from viruses using such utilities in our other article at the following link.

There is a virus in the system

Another possible reason is that the system is infected with malware. It is this that “does not allow” Kaspersky. The DrWeb utility will help you get rid of the virus. It does not need to be installed or removed. This is a portable program that is suitable for Windows of all versions (XP, 7, 8, 10).

  • Go to the website "drweb.ru".
  • Download tab.
  • Scroll down to the Freebies section.
  • Open "Dr.Web CureIt".
  • Download button.

Click on “Download for free”

  • Run the downloaded file.
  • Click "Scan objects".
  • Check all the checkboxes.
  • Click on “Run scan”.
  • It will take some time.
  • The program will display a list of suspicious data. The "Let" column will contain folders. You can choose which files to delete. If you know for sure that the object is safe, select "Skip".

It is better to carry out the check in safe mode. To enter it, press the F8 key when you turn on the computer. Options for starting the system will be offered. This way the virus will not be able to “hide”.

Why doesn't Kaspersky install?

It's no secret that one of the most popular antiviruses today is Kaspersky antivirus. By the way, I already noted this when I placed it on the list of the best antiviruses of 2014.

Very often people ask why Kaspersky won’t install; errors occur, which force them to choose another antivirus. In the article I would like to go through the main reasons and their solutions...

1) The previous Kaspersky antivirus was removed incorrectly

This is the most common mistake. Some people do not uninstall the previous antivirus at all, trying to install a new one. As a result, the program crashes with an error. But, by the way, in this case, the error usually says that you did not uninstall the previous antivirus. I recommend that you first go to the control panel, and then open the tab for uninstalling programs. Sort alphabetically and see if there are any installed antiviruses, and Kaspersky among them in particular. By the way, you need to check not only the Russian name, but also the English one.

If there are no installed programs among the installed programs, but Kaspersky still does not install, there may be incorrect data in your registry. To completely remove them, you need to download a special utility to completely remove the antivirus from your PC. To do this, follow this link.

Next, run the utility, by default, it will automatically determine which version of the antivirus you had installed previously - all you have to do is click the delete button (I won’t count entering several characters*).

By the way, the utility may need to be launched in safe mode if it refuses to work in normal mode or cannot clean the system.

2) The system already has an antivirus

This is the second possible reason. The creators of antiviruses intentionally prohibit users from installing two antiviruses - because... in this case, errors and lags cannot be avoided. If you do this, the computer will begin to slow down greatly, and even a blue screen may appear.

To fix this error, simply uninstall all other antivirus + security programs that can also be classified in this category of programs.

3) Forgot to reboot...

If you forgot to restart your computer after cleaning and running the antivirus removal utility, then it’s not surprising that it won’t install.

The solution here is simple - press the Reset button on the system unit.

4) Error in the installer (installer file).

Sometimes it happens. It is possible that you downloaded the file from an unknown source, which means it is unknown whether it is working. Perhaps it is corrupted by viruses.

I recommend downloading the antivirus from the official website: https://www.kaspersky.ru/

5) Incompatibility with the system.

This error occurs if you install an antivirus that is too new on a system that is too old, or vice versa, an antivirus that is too old on a new system. Look carefully at the system requirements of the installer file to avoid conflicts.

6) Another solution.

If none of the above helps, I would like to suggest another solution - try creating another account in Windows.

And after restarting the computer, logging in under a new account, install an antivirus. Sometimes this helps, not only with antivirus, but also with many other programs.

PS

Perhaps you should think about another antivirus?

Other reasons

If Kaspersky does not install on Win 7, 8 or 10, it means:

  • He doesn't have enough space on his hard drive. Remove unnecessary programs and data so that Kaspersky can run smoothly.
  • There is some incompatible data. Try creating a different Windows account. And already install Antivirus in it.
  • You did not restart your computer after uninstalling another antivirus.
  • The register contains entries from the old defender. Use the app to clean and correct keys and links. For example, CCleaner or Registry Fix.
  • System requirements do not meet. Try installing the old version of the utility.
  • You made a mistake when entering the license key.

Kaspersky is reliable protection against malware. It is suitable for both large organizations and ordinary users. And it’s a shame when Kaspersky is not installed on Windows 10, 8 or 7. But the reason why the defender does not load on the computer can be eliminated. Then you can use an antivirus.

In Kaspersky Anti-Virus

The interface of the main program window has been significantly changed.
Modern animated design makes it easier to perceive information and simplifies the process of working with the program. In the main program window you can see all the necessary information about the computer’s protection status, the activity of protection components, the relevance of anti-virus databases and the license validity period. In addition, you can view recommendations for configuring component settings or other actions, and also check the efficiency of cloud technologies ( Kaspersky Security Network
).

Kaspersky does not install: possible causes of failure

If you do not install Kaspersky, the problem may not be with the system. This antivirus is compatible with almost the entire Windows family: it works on 7, 8, 10, Vista and even XP. And computer resources do not affect the download process. How the utility will work depends on them.

The previous version has not been completely removed

If you incorrectly uninstalled the previous version of Kaspersky, the new one will not install. Let's say you decide to upgrade from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 10 to 15. More and more often you can find posts online in which users complain that their Kaspersky does not start in one or another operating system. This is not such a rare occurrence. There can be many reasons for such behavior. And it is worth correctly identifying the source of the problem in order to restore the functionality of the antivirus. There is no need to be afraid; the situation is often easy to resolve on your own. So why doesn't Kaspersky start? What to do in this situation? Several of the most common causes and troubleshooting tips are presented to your attention.

Update

Modern Microsoft products love to offer their users updates. This is especially true for operating systems. So, for example, if you have Windows 7, then Update Center may offer you to upgrade to Windows 8. Or do it forcibly. And just after such a step, you can notice that Kaspersky does not start. Sometimes it’s not just this software that gets compromised.

What to do in this case? If you notice that the software refuses to work after updating the operating system, you can reinstall the program. This is a completely effective method that solves many problems without much hassle. So, don't miss it.

If you do not install Kaspersky Anti-Virus, this probably indicates that your computer is infected with a virus.

I had this problem on Windows XP SP2 when I tried to install Kaspersky version 7. The installation terminated with an error message: “ Error 1304

.
Error writing to file D:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0\avp_io32.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory." When trying to manually create a file named avp_io32.dll
on the disk, a message was displayed stating that the file could not be created - the virus was intercepting system access to the disk.
The virus was written very well - neither the task manager nor the advanced ProcessExplorer
showed any suspicious running processes. The virus files that were on the disk were also masked by the virus (I received this list later when I was disinfecting the disk):

D:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\SMax4PNP.exe Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.qa D:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\downld\128437.exe Email-Worm.Win32.Bagle.of D:\WINDOWS \system32\drivers\downld\157171.exe Email-Worm.Win32.Bagle.of D:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\downld\357609.exe Email-Worm.Win32.Bagle.of D:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers \hldrrr.exe Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.qa D:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mdelk.exe Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.qa D:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\srosa.sys Trojan-Downloader. Win32.Bagle.mm D:\WINDOWS\system32\mdelk.exe Email-Worm.Win32.Bagle.of D:\WINDOWS\system32\wintems.exe Email-Worm.Win32.Bagle.of

A search in TotalCommander found these files, but it was impossible to go to the found file - it was not visible in the list. When I tried to reboot into protected mode, the system crashed into a BSOD blue screen.

What to do in such a situation? There are two simplest options - either remove the disk from the infected computer and cure it on a “clean”, uninfected computer, or, if there is no second computer, take another hard drive, install the operating system there, install an antivirus, connect the infected disk and cure it. I acted on the second option.

The virus spread through a flash drive (there may have been other ways) - on my flash drive were the files nideiect.com (the Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.qa virus) and autorun.inf (its loader, which is triggered when you insert a flash drive or try to opening it in Explorer).

Rollback

Kaspersky won't start? The first thing that can be suggested to the user, especially if you don’t want to go into details of such a phenomenon, is to perform a system rollback. Sometimes even errors that are harmless to the computer and invisible to us can have a negative impact on the software. That's why he refuses to work. It doesn’t matter what it is - a game, an application or an antivirus.

In principle, a system rollback helps in about 50% of cases. Usually the effectiveness depends on the actual problem. The more serious it is, the less chance of success. But it’s worth trying to perform a system rollback using standard tools that can restore Windows. They are in the Start menu: “All Programs”, “Accessories”. If this does not help, it is recommended to reinstall Kaspersky. Perhaps this option is most often used by users, regardless of the situation. It's always easier to get rid of the application and reinstall it than to understand the problem. But this is not a 100% guarantee that the situation will be resolved.

Conflict

Kaspersky anti-virus does not start for you? There can be many reasons for this phenomenon. And one of them is application conflict. This is especially true when you have several antiviruses on one computer. This shouldn't be surprising. After all, each system will “survive” its competitor. During this process, one antivirus may refuse to work. The same phenomenon can happen after installing some program. Just an internal application conflict.

What should I do? It's up to you to decide. But you will have to get rid of either malicious software or antivirus. If you have two of them, you need to disable one, or better yet, just delete it altogether. Only then will you be able to notice how Kaspersky’s work has resumed.

A little advice: never install multiple antivirus systems on your computer. They will constantly conflict, not to mention loading your computer. And then you will forget about the problem when Kaspersky does not start and does not work. If you have already chosen this antivirus, then use only it. Unless you can additionally install anti-spyware. For example, SpyHunter.

Method 5: Reinstalling Kaspersky Antivirus

On the official website of the Kaspersky Antivirus developer there is only one recommendation for fixing the problem being discussed today and it is related to reinstalling the software. We decided to put this option at the last place in today's article, since it is either rarely effective, or re-installation is not required due to the influence, for example, of viruses or compatibility problems with the old build. If you have made all the recommendations mentioned above and none of them brought the desired result, first, using a special utility, completely remove Kaspersky Antivirus from the operating system, not forgetting about the residual files.

Now all that remains is to reinstall the antivirus application. We advise you to download the latest version of the software and follow the instructions for proper installation, which are in our separate manual on our website.

We have just discussed five methods for solving the problem of launching Kaspersky antivirus on a PC running Windows 10. For users who have downloaded unlicensed versions of this software and are experiencing problems launching, we recommend switching to a licensed build or looking for free software that performs exactly the same functions .

Viruses

No matter how strange it may sound, there is another rather interesting case. Have you noticed that Kaspersky does not start on Windows 7 or any other operating system? Then it's time to somehow check your computer for viruses. The thing is that lately the computer infection has been trying to get rid of its fighter, the antivirus, first of all. And therefore, when the system is infected, Kaspersky refuses to work.

Most often, when this happens, it is recommended to simply uninstall the antivirus and reinstall Windows. Indeed, in such a situation, it is unlikely that it will be possible to permanently treat the computer. This, in turn, will not restore the functionality of the antivirus. So sometimes it’s this arrangement that solves all the problems.

"Pirate"

The last common reason why Kaspersky won't start is if you have pirated software. Moreover, both the operating system and the antivirus itself are taken into account. If you have downloaded and installed a pirated software, you don’t need to be surprised when it refuses to work. After all, this is a fairly common occurrence that can be corrected by reinstalling the software.

But if you have a pirated operating system, you won’t be able to easily launch a Kaspersky license when it suddenly refuses to work. It is recommended to either change it to a pirated one, or install a licensed copy of Windows on your computer. There is no other option for the development of events. Which move to use is up to you to decide.

As you can see, the most common causes of our current problem can be corrected without outside help. If you doubt that you can handle it yourself, turn to professionals. Or, change your antivirus altogether. Users are often advised to abandon Kaspersky when it stops working. In principle, this is also not the worst advice, especially if you did not buy a licensed copy.

Incompatibility

Recently, users have begun to complain that Kaspersky will not start for them. Moreover, this problem relates to one category of people: those who risked installing Windows 10. You should not be surprised by such a phenomenon. This is normal for a new product from Microsoft.

Why does this happen? The thing is that the reason for Kaspersky’s refusal to work on Windows 10 is the banal incompatibility of the system with the software. This is a long-known fact that forces many to abandon the “ten”. There is no way to restore the operation of the antivirus (and other programs). It is necessary to either completely change the operating system or accept the incompatibility and wait until Microsoft releases some kind of patch that corrects such a glitch.
