The clipboard makes working on the computer easier. Instead of retyping text, you can simply copy it from one place, and then paste the same data into a field in another program. The copied information is temporarily stored in a buffer. How to open it in Windows 10 and see what is currently there?

Reboot the dwm.exe process
The process with the description The desktop window manager is responsible for graphic effects such as previewing program windows, a transparent effect, bordering them, and some more. Here is a system process, the body of which lies in the C:\Windows\System32 and nowhere else. Otherwise, you are faced with a virus that needs to be removed. In the meantime, you need to make sure that dwm.exe does not consume excessive resources. In any case, try to stop him. If you do not have the Classic mode option in personalization (with the Aero Glass - transparency feature disabled), this simply cannot be done. Because the process will instantly start again. If this does not happen, refer to the system check part of the repair utilities (see last paragraph). In the meantime, let's restart the process right now. To do this, open the command console as an administrator and enter the command
taskkill /F /IM dwm.exe & start dwm.exe
How to find the clipboard in windows 10
Let's play explorer a little and try to find the clipboard in Windows 10. In Windows, a regular file is responsible for storing the buffer, the tasks of which include managing and interacting the buffer with RAM; it is this file that stores the latest data placed in it (this file duplicates the contents RAM in case of failure). With a stretch, this file can be called a clipboard database. Let me show you where this clipboard file is physically located.
Previously, in operating systems before Windows 8.1, a clipboard file called clipbrd.exe was located in the path:
C:\Windows\System32
Now it is no longer there, and according to Microsoft the file is outdated and now this process is organized a little differently. But no one is stopping you from downloading clipbrd.exe from previous versions of Windows, for example, from Windows 7, and transferring it to Windows 10, as in my example. The clipbrd file itself will run freely, and if you copy something to the clipboard, it will appear there.
To be honest, it is of no use, since I wrote above that the Windows 10 clipboard replaces all old values with new ones as soon as you copy them. This is connected exclusively with security and only with it; you always have to pay for convenience, since by increasing the number of stored records in the Windows buffer, it will be easier for hackers to intercept information.
The logical next question for most users is what utilities are there that expand the Windows 10 clipboard and how to quickly clear it if necessary.
Force clearing the Windows clipboard
In the days of Windows XP, the system was equipped with an excellent utility, which, however, was rarely used by anyone. But just out of ignorance. This is clipbrd.exe. It allowed you to display the contents of the clipboard on the screen. I no longer see the point of downloading it, unless you have your own (at least) virtual XP at hand. And in our case, it could theoretically help you by showing whether the contents of the buffer itself are slowing down the system, coupled with damaged system files. However, this will not prevent you from clearing the buffer contents right now. In the cmd command console, type:
echo off | clip
and restart the machine. Check the Copy - Paste function to see if it works.
How to access clipboard history
The fastest way to access the history of items saved on your clipboard is the Win+V . It opens the clipboard panel and also displays the items that are already stored on the clipboard. These items are sorted by time. Clicking on any of the displayed items inserts it into the current cursor location. Windows 10's new clipboard feature allows you to link your most frequently pasted items for quick access.
Attention : Pay attention to the fastening clip. If you have pinned an element, it will not be removed during cleaning.
Because of Internet Explorer Copy-Paste doesn't work...
Sometimes the copy-paste function does not work due to a corrupted Internet Explorer time zone security setting. It doesn’t matter at all whether you work with this browser or not. Even though they never launched it. It is traditionally firmly tied to the entire system, and even when the new Microsoft Edge is officially launched, Windows is not going to get rid of IE. Check the section:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Internet Settings > Zones
Make sure that there is no other folder 0 Often parasitic pseudozones manifest themselves with “non-letter” symbols and similar to the L in their name. If you find something like this in the registry
to a folder named 0 , feel free to delete it. Such bugs in Windows are treated with regular updates, as they affect the operation of the entire software package.
How to clear the clipboard of third-party applications
If for some reason you don’t want to bother creating a shortcut to automatically launch a command to clear information from the clipboard, you can use a third-party solution. There are many programs that can clear the clipboard automatically or at the command of the computer user. Let's name two popular and convenient solutions:
- ClipTTL. This program will be useful to the user who wants to keep his clipboard clean. It can be downloaded from the official website of the developers for free, and it works in the background, using computer resources extremely sparingly. The program clears the clipboard from the information contained in it every 20 seconds. If you need to stop it, you can click on the program icon in the Quick Access Toolbar, and it will stop performing its main function until you activate it again by clicking it.
- Clipdiary. It is a more feature-rich application than ClipTTL, which has extensive clipboard usage. For example, this application is capable of storing information copied to the clipboard in several slots so that the user can conveniently return to it if necessary. However, this application also contains a function to clear the clipboard; to use it, you need to click “Clip” - “Clear Windows Clipboard”.
There are dozens of analogues of the applications discussed above. There are both free and paid options, including more functional ones. But for the task of clearing the clipboard of the information it contains, there is no point in using more advanced solutions.

The process rdpclip.exe is running
Why, you ask? No, this is, of course, the official file copying utility, which is located only in the Windows\System32 . But it should appear in the Windows Task Manager only when you are working with the remote desktop. Not working? Then terminate the process:
That's it. I end the article with a traditional referral to articles about repairing the file system using SFC (for Windows 7) or DISM + SFC (for Windows 10). You also have the option of creating another account in which you can check the functionality of the Copy-Paste function.
Good luck.
What is a clipboard
The clipboard is a special area in RAM that the system uses to temporarily store small amounts of information. It may contain text, some images or other information. The clipboard enables one of the most obvious functions in Windows: copy and paste.
When you copy or cut something (you can do this using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C and Ctrl + X), the information goes to the clipboard. When you paste something (you can do this by pressing Ctrl+V), the information moves from the clipboard. The peculiarity of this mechanism is that only one thing can be stored in it at a time (one file, one image, one text document). Thus, when actively using the clipboard, you may need to view what is currently on it.
How can clearing the clipboard be done in a simple way
This cleaning method is suitable for Windows starting from Vista. First, we need to right-click on an empty space on the desktop. We enter the context menu, click on the “create” button and select “Shortcut”.
In the line “Specify the location of the object” we will enter a special entry.
cmd /c echo off | clip
A new window opens again, where we enter the name of our shortcut. For example, “Buffer cleaning”.
All we have to do is click “Finish” and, accordingly, the program for clearing the clipboard is ready. The following shortcut appears on our desktop.
Now all that remains is to check the program in action. We copy any material to the buffer, try to paste it from the buffer into the right place. Nothing works out for us. The buffer is clear. Our shortcut works!
Everything is fine with us. Only the label is not pretty. Let's replace it with another one. To do this, right-click on the shortcut and click “Properties”. A window will open for us,
A new window opens, there are no icons in this window, click “Browse”.
A new window opens, find shell32.dll, double-click on it.
Again, a new window has opened in which we just have to select the shortcut we like and click OK and then “apply”.
That's it, we have a new shortcut on our desktop!
Done, you now know how to clear the clipboard.

Anecdote in each article:
What kind of buffer is this?
When you copy any information (text or images), it is automatically saved in RAM. In addition to consuming resources, this data can be used by third parties. For example, you copied a password from a “secret” file (using the combination Ctrl + C) to paste it into the authorization field.
Then you leave your workplace for a couple of minutes, and “well-wishers” can take advantage of the moment and paste the contents of the clipboard ( Ctrl + V ) into any text document, thereby opening it.
